Would you rake through the bathroom bin to look for anything worth recycling or would you deem the bathroom bin to be out of bounds for raking through, simply because of the type of personal or unhygenic items that may be in there.
For the purposes of discussion, please assume empty shampoo bottles etc are mostly binned separately.
Just curious as to what general opinion might be.

anything that can be recycled gets put in the relavant box/bin/bag. i wouldnt go raiding through a bin for anything.0

Yeah - recycling is sorted before it goes in the bin, not after.
Do you actually lump it all in one bin and then go through it? Why?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I wouldn't go through a bathroom bin to be honest, mainly because there could be all sorts in there, dependant on how many are in your house and their ages.
I am really keen on recycling though as it sounds like you are too OP. So maybe mention to your family that from now on certain things can go in the bathroom bin and others need to go into the allocated recycling bags/boxes.If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants ~ Isaac Newton0 -
I don't have a bathroom bin, any empty bottles etc get rinsed out and recycled before they go anywhere near a house bin.0

yep agree with this, I'm not going raiding through any bin in our house. Once its in there, i'm not touching it.0 -
Can I just clarify something....most of the time things are put in the correct recycling bins...this is a 'just in case something got binned when it should have been recycled' situation, iyswim.Herman - MP for all!

only non recyclables go in the bin - recyclables go straight into the recylcing. Why would you put them in the bin then root through the bin - thats gross whatever bin it is!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Bathroom bin just gets everything chucked in and goes into the normal bin - while we run separate recycling/non-recycling bins downstairs - we simply haven't got the space to do so upstairs.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

If someone is really offended by the occasional recyclable item going in the bathroom waste bin but they're also squeamish, give them a disposable glove to fish it out.
Dog walkers all round the country pick up their dogs' mess. I doubt you'll find anything worse than that in your bathroom bin.0 -
I wouldn't have any worries about going into the bathroom bin - at worst you might find a bit of dental floss...what on earth could be in there that would be that unsanitary?? Would far rather go through it than the kitchen bin to be honest.0
