Just off the phone before from retensions, Couldn't get my package to a good price so managed to get 10mb bb only for £14, Increases to 30mb (with super hub) apparently in a few months for free :money:

Well done Asz, you're in the lead with the £14 you pay! :)

What number are people calling? I dialled 0800 0520157 which is the freephone version of 0845 650 4545 from https://www.saynoto0870.com (I don't have a Virgin Media landline)

Section J Paragraph 3 confirms that we can give 30 days notice to cancel due to the price increase:

I tried 0800 0522 160 and it is just a recorded message saying that Virgin tried to call.

They're increasing the prices now so that they can give us the "free" speed upgrade later in the year, which most people I know don't particularly want or need.

Has anyone else negotiated a better discount with Virgin for broadband alone?

I phoned up to cancel. Said i wanted to cut my internet usage & was going to just use a PAYG dongle.

They convinced me to stay by knocking by bill down from £21 to £14 :D.

That was their opening offer. Don't know if retentions would have offered a better deal.

That deal would suit me perfectly! would give me a reduction of £12.50 ish p/m over the year which takes it down to my comfort level of paying for this type of service!

    What package were you on?

I also rang and said this latest increase was the last straw - no wonder they were so busy when I rang to cancel, I had to wait but everyone seems like they are cancelling at the moment! Hope they ring me back and offer me something similar...

The package I am on is:

XL TV (no sports or movies but I do switch them on for occasional month ie, movies at Xmas)
Phoneline with all calls and 08 numbers
    10 meg BB
    3 x V+ HD boxes (lounge and 2 bedrooms)

I got a retentions deals about 15mths ago for £46 per month, it has now increased to £64 per month and will go up to over £68 in April. This is because they removed my discounts after the 12mths but put my phone on 18mth contract:mad:. After getting the email regarding price increases it was my ideal opportunity to get out of contract 3mths early.

    Hope this helps Kirri!

    xx

That's great, thanks! I am on similar but not as big a package with the extra boxes, so wonder if they will do as much to keep me... if I can get 3 months free I would stay (for now!) though I've seen a similar spec deal with Sky I'm now considering..

I have Phone M and Broadband L and currently paying £27.40.

With the increase it will be £28.90

Will be phoning next week, to see if I can get it lowed, not after any increase in speed etc just lower cost if I "try" and cancel.
