Well post 9 hour shift and I am up to 137/250 :)

I have also won a bundle of clothes on ebay that I am going to split up- that was £11 so will aim to make £22 there and will need to collect that tomorrow. All Next and catalogue baby stuff so hopefully should double up easily enough!

You do so well Natterjack with a child, long working hours and a thriving eBay business. I'm not sure I could have done the same when my daughter was young.

Fantastic news about your totals - it's zooming up!

I've made £9.45 on a game through eBay today so am going to add that to my old total as didn't come out of new target. Need to go shopping for plastic pots and trays at lunch time as suddenly realised I will need 160 of them and a method to carry them to bootsale once I've replanted the plug plants. Let's hope B&Q is as cheap as they advertise.

in the last three years instead of taking my unwanted items to the charity shops or dumping it ive been selling on ebay, i put most items under £1 so its free listing and putting my postage higher to compensate the loss, or i wait for a free listing s weekend which i get nearly every month, to spur you along i will tell you what i have made so far .... £635.07

Buying pots will possibly wipe out most of your profit, when I buy plants at car boots they're usually in plastic cups. If you work in a large place you can usually get them free when people have a drink for the water cooler.
Or 99p shops sell in large packs.

Thank you so much. I've just looked in the cupboard at work and we have thousands of the things. I've taken 300 to start with and hopefully one of my colleagues here will let me have more should I need them. What a great tip!

Any suggestions for the cheapest soil/compost etc?

Zopa total today is £599.30 - i so want it to go over the £600 mark with the interest alone lol!

Sold an item on ebay and got, wait for it..........34p after fees :rotfl: i underestimated the postage unfortunately and so it actually cost me 16p to sell it as it cost me 50p  silly mistake to make!

Think the thing that is holding me back from ebaying is because i have used all my 99p listings for this month and it just breaks my heart to think of paying a fee and it not selling :( at least i will have more 99p ones in the next few days :)

  • Thanks Fairyclicks for the invite to join this challenge, from what ive read it seems like im certainly in the right place and this challenge will get my off to a great start :)

Hi to everyone from the 10 a day thread  and Hi everyone else :)

For those who dont know me a quickie of my situation.
Ive been struggling to get back into work after a 3 year gap, ive been looking for jobs but having no experiance or qualifications, the ones availible to me are pretty dire :( im currently temping at MrTs 2 nights a week.

Ive been toying with the idea of starting an online business and becoming self employed again. I figure i can't find a job i want so i'll make one :D

Im absolutely passionate about carboot sales, rain or shine im there! most people think im crazy but i love em, you just never know what bargains you'll find, to me there not carboot sales but treasure hunts :D same goes for Jumble sales!!

As far as this challenge goes, and i hope this is ok, im going to start with a set amount and just see how far i can get with that.
So say i start with £20, buy stock, sell it on, work out profits and reinvest, so on and so forth.

I know quite a lot of people buy to sell on the side, but i will be looking to make this a full time business, so wish me luck!! :)

Seems like perfect timing too, april 1st is a Sunday, and sunday is a BIG carbooting day, so i'll work out what my inital investment is to be and get started on the challenge this weekend :T

Lovely to have you join us Moneyspider :j:j and a huge good luck for the challenge and for the start of what could be your new business :D. I thought this sounded like your kind of challenge and i really hope it helps give you the support and maybe even some ideas to help you along the way! I really look forward to hearing how you get on :D

I love car boots as well, though for health reasons i haven't been able to go to any recently as a seller or a buyer :( hopefully i will get to go again soon :D

Right then, i have decided i am going to spend time today sorting & photographing 100 items to put onto ebay and maybe i will even start listing them using the schedule option. I have so much stuff in the house to clear out i really can't start buying anything more until i make some space :rotfl:

    Good Luck everyone xxxx

  • Welcome Spider! Im hoping for this to be my main source of income too- Im currently working part time in a retail store and it is so boring as we are only busy at Christmas! I am currently buying and selling new stock but really want to do second hand too- only problem is I work most Sundays so can't really get to the car boots! I have been looking at baycrazy for my second hand stuff- I do have a lot of my own carp I need to clear out too though!

I ran out of time yesterday so didn't manage to go and pick up my baby bundle but will do it today as working all weekend. I got up to 137 on my last 31 days sales but had a quiet day yesterday compared to the day before so Im back down to 136.

Theres a well known baby forum that has a buy swap and sell section so Im going to have a big clearout on there- been meaning to do it for months but Im going to get my listing done for there by Monday before I eBay everything as not sure what restrictions our other eBay accounts have regarding selling (my main one is now business).

    So Im on:

    136/250 (buy to sell new)
£0/£22 (buy to sell 2nd hand)
    £20 a day April 2014 £834.87/£600 :j
    £20 a day May 2014 £108.45/£600

Welcome too Moneyspider, I'm doing the same thing too. I'm on my last day at work (finish at 12.00 and counting the minutes) and will be aiming to bring enough funds in through booting, selling on eBay and any other way to ensure I don't have to work 9-5 any more. I will probably have to do some part time work or even temporary work from time to time but the aim is to minimise that as much as possible. I love crafting too but have found that there isn't such a huge market for it as second hand goods. I'd also like to get a range of new products that will sell on a relatively constant basis.
Will be great to hear your progress too. Good luck.

Sorry, have followed this thread with interest but not taking part, but just thought I would give anyone some advice on how to pick up the carboot bargains which could bring you in mega money!.

Does take some research but if you have children you might favour boys or girls things, but do some research on Ebay for example go to toys, TV toys, then to completed items and then highest first, it will of course bring up some very collectible and expensive things first BUT get a bit further down and you will be shocked what some of the stuff goes for. The other weekend I bought my daughter three Tombilboos from In the Night Garden for £1.50 they are silly toys and are making anywhere between £10 and £25! Also bought some ITNG figures for £4 the whole lot in two ebay lots would make about £50  sadly these were bought for my daughter and she loves them so will not be going anywhere, but just a couple of examples.

The other thing you can do is wok out what programmes are popular at the moment, Waybuloo, In the Night Garden, Zing Zillas, Peppa Pig etc and put each of the programmes in, again go to completed items and highest first, you will be SHOCKED at what people will pay for second hand toys if they are no longer made, TBH that is where a lot of the money is now from car boot to ebay.

    Good luck everyone :D
