    Hi all,

I am absolutely pooped, hubby said he doesnt want to do 2 fairs again on the weekends..it will show its true effect on us mid week:o

money wise it was ok... not as good as normal, but the footfall was half what it normally is in both fairs... alot of traders were moaning that the 'glory days' of selling vintage is over, but hayho everything has its day... nothing stays the same....we have one in Bristol next sunday...and there is one the following weekend in bath again, but might not book that one...as that is the 1st of april, and there MIGHT be a slim chance we could have exchanged by then...so i would want to 'play' in our new place..

Was flipping freezing last night, frost this morning, but it looks as though its going to be a bright, sunny day...

I have read all the posts i have missed, but i will have to go and have a re-read, as htey havent sunk in:rotfl:

That's what we felt when we had the plant nursery business, but it was inevitable....short season & all that. ;)

Hen watch: Previously unwell hen out foraging this morning, as normal. :)

I'm wondering about galvanised water pipe and kee clamps too LE, but DW is keener on wood. No offence to anyone else, but messing around with other stuff might be cheap, but with the winds etc here it might need doing more than once! When I say wood, I mean 3" - 4" poles. This is the spot that the tulip tree couldn't survive in...
If you did that then inserted something like rebar (painted) in the bottom of the posts so they didn't touch the ground, they would last a long time.
But I'm not sure they would be strong enough to support the top structure by the sound of it, those big metal fence spikes would do it. If you get close mesh on one side, it will cut down the wind alot as well.
    It won't be cheap though.

The reason we are building two fruit cages is that if we find some stuff isn't really attacked, the second one won't happen. For example, we didn't lose much in the way of raspberries before. Redcurrants just whooshed away though....

So, we are trying to be economical....sort of. :o

Rummer, I feel for you. It might have been a bit early for some of your seeds, being where you are...:(

    No offence taken, Dave. :D
We either used Agriframes for things like our arches or had a blacksmith make things.
It was just something that I'd wondered whether it would work & was trying to be a bit MSE :rotfl:

Thank you for all the sympathy! I was just a bit grumbly ;)

Made a decision that I am going to leave the garden be until my two weeks off in April and I will tackle it all then. No point in clearing bits to leave them empty for weeds to pop back up in and the seeds will stand a better chance. I only sowed ones inside however they were not for germinating :(

I feel happier now that I have decided that as it has been weighing on my mind and I have felt guilty for not doing more but it is a busy time of year for me and I would rather concentrate on it when I can give it my full attention :D

Bah! Discovered my allotment shed had been broken into for the 2nd time this morning :( I've only had it a couple of months. We chained the tools together & ran the chain under the shed after the last time so they were still there thank heavens. I don't understand why these horrible toe rags have to try & ruin someone else's bit of idyllic life. I'm going back later so hope it's all there still. Also there was a dead rat in the water tank when I went to get water as the taps are still turned off & I spent our enforced team bonding session at work today wondering how it got there hehe.

Rummer that sounds like a good plan :) I've got 2 days off this week while we are gphaving a new bathroom put in so I will clean my greenhouse & my pots & sow seeds then :). 2 weeks off sounds heavenly!

Keeping my fingers crossed for the duck & Welsummers :)

LIR interesting about charity shops, I've seen Bombay duck gear in our local dr banardos but really reasonably priced - I wonder if it depends on the business who have donated it. My sister used to volunteer in the Oxfan near Nottingham hill & a great posh dress shop (well posh for me, it is a high st store) used to clear out everything at the end if each year & donate it there & they used to price it at what they thought at the time, no minimum.
