Had to read up on this, sounds unpleasant0 -
What else could 'bites' be, itsme?? I know rozee said H, F & M virus for her DD but I'm not particularly rural here?? That's assuming H, F & M virus is a rural problem.
I wondered about some sort of mite, rhiw _pale_ I do tend to nip outside in my bare feet so will have to stop that
I'm loving the light mornings as well, CTC, Spring is definitely a-coming!! We have sunshine today as well so it's all good!! :j
Get well soon to the poorly daydreamers'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Ahh, just googled H, F & M virus & I see it's not linked to Foot & Mouth disease in cattle
Definitely not that for my 'bites' though. I suppose another possibility is cat fleas?!'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
It's not rural, PP. I think it's about being in a close knit village community with lots of children who snot and spit swap!0

Well, as an example, my urticaria can start with one or two spots which look & itch like bites. In fact for a long time I thought that was what they were. I think there are a number of skin conditions which have similar things.
I think (could be wrong, though) that H, F & M doesn't normally have the intense burning itch.0 -
Thanks for the video Itsme. Much enjoyed.:D Seemed pretty efficient for 'round yer,' actually! :rotfl:
I must have a guardian angel. :A 24hours of being cooped up with 25 others in a small room last week, and....so far....nothing. :j
Hugs to all those under the weather. I'm outside putting the gravel boards in place to get my new hedge line in the right place. Predictably, the fence I'm replacing wasn't straight, so I spent far too long trying to get a line of best fit without also destroying a really nice & unusual buddleia.0 -

I'm at the OK first thing & then everything fills up going downhill from there stage. Steam (with or without Friar's Balsam/Olbas Oil) does help move things but, as you'll know that can be a mixed blessing as it's often painful.
Its not nice at all, especially when you wake up feeling not too bad and then it goes pearshaped quite quickly! Yes, steaming with Olbas Oil, Sudafed, antibiotics and paracetomol to try to take the edge off the headache.
Dont know if anyone watched the rerun of Grand Designs yesterday, Hellifield Peel Castle now operating as a B&B. I could happily stay there!
For a huge stone pile the heating bill at c£3000 looked quite reasonable (GSHP)0 -

OOOOOOOO i have badgers in the wood and keeper doesnt mind them there and i love em.... the gamekeeper is SO nice for a keeper...very animal orientated...has names for the deer...:D
leaves the small shot pheasant hanging on the gate for me for the foxes and owl.
i know im an animog fan but id love a badger in my garden...:D
all gods creatures.. and unless something harms me personally, i just admire it for what it is...
not starting a badger debate here folks...;)0 -
Yes Rhiwie I watched it last night,
I personally think that is one of the best ones...
did you see the wall colapse:eek::eek:
I would def stay in a place like that as a b&b..bet its not cheap to stay there...But the journey they took to get it like that it is worth every penny.
All I could think of when watching it, was 'well there is hope for our place':rotfl::rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -

Am I the only one who thinks £3K to heat that is fairly expensive? I admit I know nothing about the running costs of the newer sources. What does GSHP in a normal 5-bed detached cost?
I must admit I don't watch GD but I was fascinated to find out how large a stone pile it was for a £3K (one source) heating bill so took a look at the site.
It's squarish, which helps as it makes life easier for pumping but I'd want it really toasty for that money :rotfl:
We have 20 rooms on this side (well over 100ft frontage as you know, rhiw) & 12 on the other & we don't usually spend that on oil (Rayburn often running all year) plus our electric. _pale_
However, having said that/ in tourism it's the visitors who usually end up paying for most, if not all, power through their bills.0
