    Whatever turns you on.....:D

Last night we had the first read-through of the Panto. I'm happy with my role. It's clear that I was chosen as Queen Victoria for my voice, not my stature. :p

Just had one of our eggs for breakfast. They're still in very short supply, but truly, they can't be beaten. :)

A kind person sent me some Yacon on Monday, First class. I am still waiting. Lets hope they haven't been sitting around somewhere in freezing temperatures. :(

Had to Wiki Yakon. Should be ok if it freezes, says it resprouts?

And with the mail at the moment delays seem inevitable. Just been advised that a parcel sent by courier in October finally was received by customer yesterday. Its a very long story that I wont bore you with but the company has been good since I took the matter higher so I wont name them.

Just been out to rethaw the chooks water, and off shortly to collect more stuff from yesterday that we couldnt fit in the car.

Alf, stuff on its way :)

I called to find out about joining the local allotment waiting list but I didn't really get anywhere as the person I need to speak to was unavailable. At least though I am taking a step in the right direction.

We are never going to be in the position to have a small holding unless we win the lottery (fingers crossed :rotfl:) however we can achieve miniature greatness by making the most of our plot here, getting an allotment to grow more and if the time is right keep chickens.

Too much time would be wasted if I held out for something that is unlikely to happen and that my OH doesn't really want. So I am going to make my own mini day dream come true in a more inventive way :D
Rummer, we've got five acres now - and nothing growing in it, except creeping buttercup!!! Really need to have a plan to start small and work my way up. I wish we could get the polytunnel in situ but I know it makes sense to wait til the building work's been done. Thank god the permaculture course told me to observe for at least a year. So that's why i'm seeming to have done nothing - I'm observing - okay?

We've been watching Jamie Oliver's 15 minute meals, have tried several and liked them, so OH has bought the book. He does use a lot of chilli though, which to be honest I'm not that keen on. But I think I could manage a small kick from a mild one, so wondered if any of you Chilli aficionados could give me some advice as to what kind to try and grow next year? I've noticed Jamie biting into chillies to check how hot they are, but it's not something I fancy trying!

Sorry, forgot to welcome new folks to the thread! Good to have some new blood arriving, I'm sure you'll all have plenty to entertain us all with!
Jalepeno? I'm a wuss and even I can eat them. Dunno how they are in cooking those. usually just have them on pizza.

one of our drivers had a bump.. so that will be 2 claims in one year.

tried phoning the car owner, and they said he had gone to hospital due to his injury:eek::eek::eek::eek: so all within 3 hours, bump, hospital and got onto his insurance to claim for personal injury etc..

just want to go home and cry

I have a dilemma and I could do with some thoughts. As I mentioned I am hoping to get an allotment to extend my growing opportunities. Well I found out a bit more info today and now I'm not sure what to do.

There are a couple of plots within walking distance that have huge waiting lists 100 people + and then there is a plot about 5mins by car away that has little/no waiting list.

So there is the dilemma. Do I go for one close by and wait a long long time or do I go for one further away?

I take it you can't hedge your bets and be on both lists?
