  • I remember the 3 day week & cuts of the 70s.
Along with most working Equity card holders I was busy trying to put on the same number of shows per week despite half of them being in theatres with no power. I imagine Elf & Safety would stop all attempts like that now.
How we didn't all break our necks going up & down staircases in the dark, I don't know.
I also remember a lot of open candle flames in shops & offices which would probably also be frowned on now.
I'm sure I remember one dancer going over into the pit but, thankfully, surfacing unscathed to much laughter :rotfl:

Itsme, I didn't know that was your line of work previously. Seems quite a lot of equity card holders end up dancing in the mud, or with chickens with Shakespearean names, or singing to an audience of ruminants. :)

Yes, that was my original line of work for which I trained.
It is true there are (& have been for many years) plenty of singers, dancers, musicians, actors, comedians etc around here.

Haven't caught up as yet, but still doing the challenge.

Got a test over at Inverness tomorrow - 4 hours they reckon.

Got a delivery of sheet for roof - its the wrong colour, THE WRONG !!!!!!! COLOUR!

I told em I'd be over tomorrow & will go beserk. Really beserk. The regional manager guy is coming down from Aberdeen. The folks in the Inverness branch are playing silly games with us & I'm fuming as the weather was really great this past week - had a guy to come & help us, but it's all fallen apart.

Itsme, you've still got the grace and physique of your dancing days. Whereas I've retained the physique that went with my desk job :(

Planted narcissi, crocii/crocusses??, and some other spring bulbs in cleared flower beds and at focal points in front apple beds. Garden beginning to look Ok again.

Had a neighbour complain today that the crop of apples they used to admire on our front trees had disappeared :D. We've had so many (favourable) comments about growing apples along our roadside fence, not sure why or whether people are so often divorced from the reality of seeing food grow on trees rather than buying in the supermarket.

Off topic: For anyone with a spare moment any idea where and when (30s?) THIS is? Sorry for quality but it's from an old negative

:rotfl: rhiw. All untrue but flattery goes down nicely every now & then so thank you :D

Couldn't they have left the top of the bridge/viaduct on or were they really trying to make life hard? I don't recognise it but the closest I've found (including punts) is the Nidd at Knaresborough. Unfortunately, I can't find any photos taken from that particular side of the bridge to compare with, though :rotfl:

 I hate it when that sort of thing happens. I always wonder why, with so many unemployed, it seems to be the dinlos who have the work. Go give them merry hell. choille. I would. At least venting may make you feel better &, with any luck, put the fear of God in 'em so they don't upset the madwoman again.

Well. Today has been a horrid one.

    1. Dog dog broke her leg, again. Well, the other one to the one she broke last summer. Exactly the same break, mirror image.

2.the doors have had to go back to the workshop.

    3. The Expensive paint that costa bomb plus two days labour on the corrugated iron roof (see how flash we are, Rofl) is all just sliding off.

    4. The hedge whcih we were taking out is out, and while I felt I was 'prepared' for this it is really, very open. We are putting posts in at the weekend and then will attach wind break stuff, but oi, I feel like the house is naked and we are naked in it with no front hedge.

Re woodwork paint, ctc, if you are still deliberating well, we would recomend the sikkens stuff. The primer is a bit odd, as itsme had warned, but the top coat is normal and has come up beautifully. I only wish they had a low sheen version. But it seems great, no complaints on that score.

Oh, LIR... Sounds awful. Hate those kind of days.

We are just doing one relay after another of wees and poos.. The twins are potty trained now, but they can't go to the toilet unassisted quite yet.
