Itsme, the ad came from a chambers of 1906. But this and this are possibly my favourites.

You sound in good spirits so I may just set you some item teasers again, from Germany and Japan, if you're up for it :D

:T I am sorely tempted to contact Jenson Button to ask if he had an eccentric ancestor living in Margate in 1906.

Mind active, body kernackered but quite happy to tackle your teasers, rhiw.

I had a surreal experience once driving up the old kent road. Was very odd and cinemagraphic.......is that a word? Anyway, surreal.

Rhiwfield - that ad with the corrugated iron shed is traditional house style in many parts of the Highlands. Some still remain intact. The old church that has now been sold is such a building. A neighbour has lovingly restored it using old odd sheets of tin - some of which had blown down our croft off the original byres. I hear they have them in OZ too. Would love a copy of any info if you care to.

If you photo copied that ad I'd buy it off you for interest.

Choille, the ad is bound into the chambers magazine, nothing more than in the link photo I'm afraid. I'm happy to send you a hi-res image, alternatively I can send you a hardcopy if you'd prefer. No charge of course :)

There's a book about the corrugated iron buildings, choille.
Well, there are probably several but .....
Iron is allowed as a 'local' material down here, too. There's a church (Tin Tabernacle :)) in Langley Marsh made of corrugated.

Search for Tin Tabernacles & you'll get a few options.
When I was young we used to know people who went to church, the tin tabernacle or the mad mission :rotfl:

Body also kernackered, brain doesnt want to watch tv even if I could sit in the lounge. And after two nights sleeping on the computer chair I've got qwertyuiop impressed on my backside :o

    Right then :D
First. Piccies 1,2,3. the lidded jar is, I understand, is a form of Satsuma from label (Shimazu Mon etc), even though it doesnt look like it and I'm tentatively dating it to Meiji period! Off white glazed inner and base are finely crazed. Query: Do you agree with above conclusions and can you add to knowledge of the style (moriage/date?)

Second.Piccies 1,2. Spoon (c6" long) prob German from silver-plate 90 stamped on back. But what was it used for?

Itmehonest - I'll take a look at that link - excellent. Funny this subject as not really come across these houses until moving to the Highlands. Can't remember any in Fife.

We're having a steel profile roof as it's traditional roofing material here.

The tin, when new & shiny would reflect the heat, so wouldn't necessarily be too hot
