there are 24 shetland ponies being offered for free on a local freecycle site, some with foals:o my horsey days are well behind me, but i am afraid someone is going to take the lot, and mistreat them:o
I will pm you
Yeah, alfie, she is always rescueing 'em.
I cannot open the link because its yahoo and yahoo will never open for me. I would try horseworld in bristol, because they will have ideas. Also, equine market watch might know of somewhere who will have them. Glenda spooners too (world horse welfare), they have a somerset branch which might well cover wales.
Otherwise blue cross, down the m4 East.....burford way i thnk? But the crucial think is the m4 means they can get to that sort of area.0 -
Thanks Dave, I've tried the paint and it works for a while. Trouble is there is no damp proof course and I have trouble with it all over the house.
Previously had environmental health out to try and get the landlord to do something. The officer said it was so bad we'd probably need to move out. I asked him to forget it, so still trying to sort it out ourselves.
Had hope to buy a place but everything has gone pear shaped with OH being made redundand and now I'm getting my hours cut. Not helped with the car dying.
Have been offered £975 for the car but OH is thinking about shoving it into a car auction. Really not sure what to do. Luckily DS1 is letting me use his till he passes his test. He's away shearing at the mo and will be knackered when he gets in.
Sorry rambling again.

We have no insulation and no damp (or very precious little around the wondows). I lived in an unisulated and roofless (long story) house which was essentially a bungalow which had shocking, shocking damp. I had to clean every inch of every wall, floor and ceiling with amonia almost daily.
Amonia would be thw way i would go, and getting it as dry out to the core while the sun shines as possible. I would then resign my self to running a dehumidifier in there as well as having the window open.
Mould is the pits, but it has to be tackled.0 -
Hello
Sorry I have not been keeping up to speed on the thread, I hope everyone is ok. The garden this year has been a total disaster as we have not had the time to grow veggies or even keep on top of the basics. Over the last couple of days I have taken advantage of the good weather and have got the patio in order. If the weather holds I will face the thigh high grass  and cover the beds with polythene to smother the weeds and we will worry about it next year.
It is a bit gutting as the last few years have not gone well in the garden and we were hoping this would be our year, ah well. The soft fruit however has been doing really well and the bargain bin strawberries I got right at the end of the season last year have produced a bumper crop of giant tasty strawberries. All the raspberry bushes have produced well and we are just waiting for the currents to ripen.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Good to hear from you again, Rummer. I was only wondering where you'd gone on this thread the other day...
Always a silver lining. Down south, we've not had the best weather for strawberries, and some of the other fruit looks poor too.
Our hay bales left us today. Pete has moved them under cover, before stacking them in a few weeks.
Lucielle, no DPC means you may struggle. Make sure the wall can 'breathe' and lose the water that gets into it as quickly as possible. As lir says, some fungicide applied to surfaces will slow the growth of moulds down.
Daughter 1 had a flat like that a few years ago. When the house was built, occupants weren't having at least one shower each, every day!0 -

BUT i tell you what i am piddled off with, is the part about celabrating the NHS.... what a kick in the teeth for them, especially with all the cuts, and prob the money they spent on the bloody Olympics could have been spent on the NHS, so there would be no job cuts and they could improve the services...
( what i mean is they are not telling the wrold the other side of the NHS, what the government are doing to it)
exactly what we said...bl**dy propoganda....
made me laugh when children were in bed [GOSH] the "commentary "said " nice theyve included the children as its scary for them to go to hospital" AS BIG FO BLACK,SCARY CHILDSNATCHERS CHASED THEM FROM THIER BEDS .....???
that will boost the confidence of future young patients ...:eek:0 -
well, perhaps a lone voice here, but i really enjoyed the opening ceremony!
Very inclusive, some wit, spectacle and i was gobsmacked with the cauldron at the end.
Anyhow, for some reason i've just bought some vintage horse tack (dont ask me what it is!), an art deco electric fire (stunning, but lead chopped off), flat irons, galv watering can and other odds and sods. Now all i need is a horse riding art deco loving electrician who uses antique irons by choice and has a phobia against plastic watering cans. Simples!!

Politically left to my personal taste, but that does not make me dislike something, i am broadminded enough to cope with that.
Ultimately it was just TOO long though, it would have been as good imo with a very heavy editing.
quite agree , there was some very clever bits... i felt sorry for people in the audience tho as distance from so many people doing so many things must have resembled the bees arriving on my house
i watched it untill "mull of old age " came on and i let the dogs out then....:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

a long time ago i had a damp bathroom and i put in [safely] one of those greenhouse low wattage tube heaters, just to keep the room at a constant warm and then condensation didnt hit the walls carrying a black paint brush...:)0 -
lOVED the email Alfie:D i have pm'd you..
Luceille... it doesnt rain it bloody pours... re- hubby redundancy and your hours being cut, is there any sort of small business you could start up for extra money? Is there any plants etc in an around the place you can take cuttings etc so you can sell them next year
I allways found even though i need/want money now, I allways used to try and forward plan for pennies coming in... ( didnt allways work lol)
Is there any local regular farm auctions, that you can buy and sell stuff, even if you just make a quid or 2?
I used to pot up some sedums etc from my MIL garden, and then just plonk them in a part of the garden and forget about them until the following year, and flog them.. by then they would have grown/spread into a nice big pot full. Didnt sell then for alot, but it all added up.
Going to start it again.... so if anyone got anything like that i could have a few off-shoots off i would be VERY greatfull:beer:
Well the heavens opened up yesturday evening.... and you could see the steam coming up from the roads.... very pretty....
Fay..... Nice to see you popping in.... loads of people I have spoken too have said exactly the same thing about the NHS on Friday....Fingers crossed for the Bulldog...I think the Global Gathering was there this weekend?
Right off to leave the 'flock' outWork to live= not live to work0
