I hope he didn't bring back scrumy jack from Devon :D

It was scrumpy jack - just 4 cans and all gone now.

We found respite home for my dear MiL today, not one we'd consider if looking for permanent place, but nice for now, with sea view from window and en suite (which MiL very pleased about).

Hope we never have to look for long term stuff for her, most of the stuff on Wirral seems to be carp. Homes my parents went in weren't much cop, one (Mother) lost its licence and got closed down a few months after Mum died. Though I think they were relatively OK while she was there... But it's scary stuff trying to choose for someone else. (if we still had the Roll Eyes thingy I'd be using it here!)

Off to bed now as knackered post several Care Homes visits today plus the associated web searching beforehand!

Oddshopping item search alert for alfie and rhiwfield.

Cast iron doors off a range. Flat metal ones, like of a black range as opposed to aga doors.

I know thats odd. I need up o four and do not necessarily want them to match. They are to be doors into the cavity underneath my new fireplace...

    NOW AS IT HAPPENS..........

if memory serves me right it is about 12" x 15"...is that too small/big ? i will get a pic tomorow...:)

My sympathies with checking out the care homes Maggie; it can be a very depressing task. I went through well over a dozen of them for my Dad and eventually found two that were significantly better, and without costing an arm & a leg. I can honestly say he had the very best one for his needs....:)

He was in it three weeks! :(:o

Some of the places I wouldn't have left my dog in.....if I had a dog. :(

Yup, pouring concrete for footings would have been hard here a fortnight ago,. Then, there was still about 2' of water in the bottom of my foundation inspection holes.

Not much to report. I used the first of my comfrey water tonight on the toms, and now I can't get the smell off my hands! Also dug up the garlic and planted leeks. I have a clear area where the spuds came out and don't know what to put in it, except chard. The hens can't get enough of that.

Our chicks are coming along well, so I think they could go independent from Mum now, but she shows no sign of tiring. When we gave her some corn tonight, I noticed she ate none, just beaked (can't say "handed"!) it all to her babies.

i must add that when i lumped the door indoors, and opened up bag it was in,a poor whitless spider, who had obviously resided un interupted for g0d knows how long on the door, in the shed, was suddenly thrust into the limelight [well side lamp..] and having suddenly appearing to have landed on another planet, was running around on the door like a
headless chook and was teetering often on the edge as if it was a huge cliff to the floor... in the end he "hid" under some leaves/dust in the hinge...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Poor spider!

I have two metal water troughs i want to keep but i am wondering if i should sell. They fo for a forune locally as planters, have seen them at about £300 and more in the posh garden centre.....'vintage' dontcha know!!?

So i cannot decide whether to keep them and plant in them myself of to sell them. One is perfect, one is beat up. I suppose i could sell the perfect and keep the beat up? Money would be very useful......but then, so would planters!
