The weathers been good, overcast but oddly the midgies are not really about which is so odd that one has to wonder where they are. But brilliant to be able to actually work outside at night.

Two salads a day are compulsory at the mo. Corgettes just flowering & peppers hust starting to form. The birds are ripping off the fruit, but managed a few bowls of rasps - MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm - favorite fruit ever.
Got some really good mixer taps & sink taps - brand new out of a charity shop last week. Paid £15 for the mixer taps & saw that they are well over £200. The sink taps cost me £4 & still in the box - new price £69 - so well chuffed at that.

Hope everyone is well & coping with your unfortunate Summer. Not often we can boast about our weather & on Skye & Lewis they are having it seriously dry.

Urgh, the tree surgeon has arrived top remove my beloved but damaging oak and i have been in tears over it.

He called while i was out at b and q to say he would make a start today, and i was browsipng all the reduced garden centre stuff (they are planning to throw most of it away at my local bandq) and the garden centre bit man heard dh and i talking about it, and wants shot of the stuff so ave us a very, very, reduced grape vine for the car port and two crab apples for the hedgerow (not the variety i have picked, but at that sort of price....) . Not oaks, but at least some thing new going in. I will choose smaller trees for the oaks' place this week. I might even see if we can afford a matureish small tree from one of the big tree nurseries so its nopt quite so bare.

Alf, parcel on its way today by Royal Mail.

Just had some fun converting scrap into a pressie for GS2's naming day/1st birthday. Even surprised myself that it looks ok as well :o

Been an expensive week, car service, MOT and gearbox repair and poor buying at auction. Must do better!

Right, bought two juneberries on line in a sale (hurrah). Still thinking what else to get, but atleast we have something for the gaping open space on its way now. Once they get established in a few years ip might geow a wipnter floweriong clematis through them. We will see.

Today we used a tin of wood worm treatment on our old gun chest. I need to get more of this stuff, a lot more! And cheaper than b and q sell it, any ideas?

Hope BF feels better soon Alf - is it man flu? AKA a slight runny nose?

I have a hen who has been doing soft eggs for ages now. She just dropped one earlier & her mates all tore in & ate it. They all get the same food & free access to grit. I don't know if there is owt else I could be doing.....any ideas?
