Alfie - just caught up withreading 2 and a bit pages of posts.
You need to allow people from abroad to bid - ie You probably only have postage for UK that 'bans' disallows bids from outside UK.
Just finished listing & feel jiggered.
Today was really glorious - like Summer - we went to the beach for a while this afternoon to get grit for hens & there was a couple in the water - amazing. Beautiful blood red sky this evening.
Not often I'm winding you lot up doon Sawth with me brillo weather stories.

Lovely sunny morning here in Liverpool! :j Now I've caught up on everyone's news it's probably time to get dressed and go and take a look at the garden and me seeds.
Have peas, beans and broad beans in root trainers in a cold frame, and lots of flowers coming on in the utility room. Prob too late for tomatoes, but we can always put them in the porch come autumn. Been too cold to plant anything much anyway. They say it may reach 18C here today, so will be able to sit out and up my Vit D a bit... Maybe I should put shorts on?
Must chit the morning glories and start off the sunflowers.
Hope you all have a good day, though have a feeling further south it's going to be wet yet again?0 -
oh well my good mood bubble has just been burst
i had enquiries re bay items from abroad, said if he arranged courier then it was ok but had to pay me pronto if he won. then after sales ended i got a message from the guy asking "why had i BLOCKED him from buying"...... i dont even know how to or in fact that you could even do that....:( i am really...cos i know i havnt done it...
Alf, only putting UK postage on shouldnt block bids from abroad (or it hasnt for me! ) However if your default settings are set to exclude certain countries, that will stop people from those countries from bidding. I usually exclude Latin America and African Countries as too risky and will extend the list for bulky items. China I normally include, especially for vintage cameras!
Anything that needs a courier, or exceeds overseas RM size limits (eg a walking brolly) will be UK post only.0 -
sshhhh.........dont tell anyone but the sun is shining here !!!!!
THE chap in oz has been very good about things and has asked me to keep a look out for certain items for future sales ......0 -

And here, but my shed roof is a bit worse for wear.
But....HMRC has accepted our excuse for late submission of the business tax return, so that's £200 + interest winging its way back here!
Knew you'd sweet-talk the Oz guy! :rotfl:0 -
Hi, has anyone got any experience of decommissioning for council tax rating purposes. There's so much bureaucracy! It's not looking too positive. They are saying that if the house is watertight and has a roof it is unlikely to be taken out of the council tax rating system and we'll have to pay 50% council tax on it as our second home even though it's uninhabitable without at least £10k spent on rewiring as the electrics have been condemned and major refurbishments will take place before it is brought up to modern standards - But they won't give me any advice on where I need to look for the criteria for whether or not we qualify until I submit an appeal... That's Open Government for you, eh?0

We have the council coming out on the 10th May..
We told them that we just bought the house at auction... the previous owners told them they had left the furniture for us, so they thought we were living there:eek:
We told them it is not habbitable, so they told us they need to come to make sure there is NO furniture in the house.. they know where we are actually live...
If i were you Rozee, is phone them back, and tell them it is NOT your second home, and that you are renting somewhere until the work on the house is done...they will need to come out and check..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hey, calling alfie removal's! We won it! Hahahaha. So, flea market better not be cancelled. What time do you reckon you will be here, the seller wants me to give him a time to collect it!
I was starting to look for polished gem stones to stick on other furniture thinking we would not get it, we were the only bidder!0 -
Yes, rozee, I have more than enough experience for one lifetime of CT things
but things are changing & much of it is already at the discretion of the Local Authority. What each Authority allows seems to differ.
It was because of experience that I was warning about looking into what local councils consider annexes etc.
In our case to totally remove properties from CT it was necessary to take away the cooker point (in fact we removed all the kitchen & left empty rooms) & the toilets. Of course, there can be no furniture or anything left inside which might make it habitable as far as cooking, washing, sleeping .....
Someone then came round, inspected them & deemed them uninhabitable. It is their definition of uninhabitable that counts.
On the remaining cottage we have to pay 90% CT as a 2nd home even though it is within our boundary, relies on water & electricity from the house, doesn't exist as a separate address, doesn't even get a refuse collection, & is not allowed to be permanently lived in (in fact for no longer than 2 weeks at a time) by Planning.
Should we wish we could empty the cottage of furniture & then get 6 months as an empty property but, after that, we would be charged at 100%.
And they say they need properties for use by local youngsters :mad:0
