just probably teachin granny how to suck eggs ,rozee, but when it comes to planning your garden etc , dont forget to stand in your bungalow and look at the view from each window to decide what you want to see from where ...:D it makes a big difference from standing outside...
Of course we still don't know if we can realistically afford to do this build. We were due to have the new lot of costings by the end of last week, six weeks later than we'd hoped, but fell victim to the Pembrokeshire Promise again. We've now been assured we'll have the figures by Wednesday at the latest. Vory! It's the country....0 -

Impreza insurance groups 13-20! Ouch!
1st thing he did was check insurance and its group 14...the turbo is 20 .........only 2 up from his present car so that was not a shock...:D apparently [after quick call to son] its the turbo one that they rally in BUT this one is the "on road" version.... think that was an appease mum answer..;) :rotfl::rotfl:
just by the way im a named driver on all his cars..:D:D sooooo im just gonna have to try it out....to test its safety/handling etc...;)0 -

I have been given lots of tomato seeds - is it too late to sow them for this year? Was thinking about getting them going then selling the baby plants, but won't bother if I've missed the 2012 tomato window...
I would try them, but back up your chances with some brought in plants.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
p.s. i am trying out a cross breed between a lilac/grey frizzle and some silkie hens [gold and white ones] if it works they will officially be called FRIZKIES.....:)
i have so got to get the "no selling eggs" at the gate clause lifted from here. at my friends we are flooded by eggs and there is only so many to give away before people have too many...:o
the geese have 4 nests on the island each with at least 10 eggs !! BUT 2 of them keep moving eggs around then disappearing for the day !! so we will hopefully get some.... LIR is having some ..[not sure she knows that...:rotfl::rotfl:]
i bought a pair of waders [tip] and think i may wade over the lake to remove old eggs as i dont want the good mums getting confused and jumping ship....:(
yesterday i had a diesal delivery here at my house whilst i was on airport run. i had a phone call from the "new" driver saying he could see the tank but couldnt get to it...i asked why not...and he replied "theres a mad bird here that wont let me in "...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: goosegoggins doing his rottweiller impression.... i told him to say "hello goosegoggins ,how are you today" and then just walk past him... he rang me back ,laughing his head off saying it had worked and what a wuss...i :rotfl:and said "who? you or him ".....0 -
First thought is damping off, if still at early seedling stage.
I thought this - but it's not just at seedling stage...
I can sow a seed tray. A couple of the cells don't germinate.
So I transplant the healthy seedlings. After a couple of weeks, literally RANDOMLY (ie: not adjacent) plants will just collapse.
I learned from last year about damping off, but I can get my plants to seemingly strong plants now, and still have random losses...:(0 -
We made a new "Real Free Range Eggs" sign yesterday. Today we sold all the eggs surplus to those our 'regulars' have.
I have never heard of any one told off for these non standard signs. And i think thr system that bans us from using terms kike free range is stupid, but it exists, so i would not use it on my sign. Glad it is helping you shift eggs though.:)
We need the digger man back for more tre holes.
Also, opinions on this please. The holes he has dug that are not yet filled have water in them. He reckons its just a high water table there, helped by the fact it can easily pool in the huge holes. In these holes i want to plant a crab apple(probably harry baker, any one got any experience, a quince...(dithering, but think meech 's prolific, again, input welsomed) and some other fruits (six gaps in all), probably gages and plums for the remaining four holes. Is this standing water going to be an issue do you think?
We have a small walnut....free with other purchase:D to go in, but i want to keep it potted for summer. I want it in a far hedgerow(on the rat prevention reasoning) but thats a long way to cart water out in summer, so thought would hang on to it until autumn.
Also, final tree issue, the mulberry that prefered it here to the other garden still looks ropey. I am tempted to replace it. Its five or six years old but it looks like a ropey maiden tree. We love mulberries, and they hold some significance for dh, whose mother's ashes are underneath some, but luckily her birthday is about the time the mulberries are starting to ripen......so fruit is not essential, but would be nicer to have at home. Would you huys relace it? It takes so long before these wretched fruit but i cannot see this weakling being much or any quicker than a new tree.
The currants are laden with flowers i think it will be a good year for them.
And, finally, yet again things come up the wrong colour, i must get in the habit of keeping packaging so i can complain. This time my sunset coloured tulips...well, half a dozen of them re, others are red and yellow. I have a hatred of red and yellow together, (reminds me of ketchup on scrambled eggs, the idea of which makes me wretch:o) so that they are wrong for where they have been put is only half the problem, i have to go out and try to think happy thoughts while chopping them down to give to some one as cut flowers pdq:o:D0 -
Good luck with the bootie Rhiwie....
Think you are def right about the compost coming from amenity sites, as there are little twigs, plastic, clumps etc..
I am looking for a nice soft 'bouncy' clean type compost if that makes sense...lol..( maybe i have been so used to the peat based composts)
Alfie had the poem:rotfl: tears were rolling down my eyes:T could also imagine your fuel man trying to pass your goose..
alfie we will be looking for some geese in a few months, how much do geese sell for in your area? and what breeds?
the laptop powercable packed in last night:eek: some of the wires inside the cable had bent and broke ( we use the lappy on the sofa so the cable has now not a natural bend in it, and this is where the wires ahd bent and broke), the kids laptops power cables didnt fit, so hubby stripped back the casing and done some soldering work and tapped it back up with electrical tape....and:T I should imagine some people would panic and buy a new computer:rotfl: ...same with youngests laptop, he broke the screen a while back.... so he has it connected up to his tv....
still cold here, and damp... really wish the weather will get warmer....it was so cold the other night ( well it could be that i have the start of something, and i am cold all the time) we lite the fire, and i got hubby to get a bag of coal to keep the fire in all night, ( we only burn wood now, trying to save money and not buy coal)
manage to earn another £5 amazon voucher on swagbucks ( if anyone wants more info let me know) had my barb wire from the last lot i cashed in.. wasnt the best quality, :rotfl: but we can use it.....
so i think i might use this code as a part payment for a good pig book....Work to live= not live to work0 -
rainbow - Could it be due to lack of sufficient light as the seeds start to grow? If they shoot up to reach light they do it by growing fast but thin & spindly. Eventually the developing leaves have trouble pulling sufficient food from the roots & they topple over
LIR - I don't know of any fruit tree that likes growing in wet soil. If you really do have a high water table at that point then you'll have a problem. In fact, if it's that wet you're really down to the willow-type water lovers.
Darned cold here, too, CTC. Not helped by the fact we ran out of oil on Friday (DH blames a bubble stuck in the tank gauge :rotfl:) & we can't get a refill until Monday or possibly Tuesday. I hate being cold. Everything seizes up & it plays havoc with the bladder :rotfl:0
