We have had to develop the blind by choice approach. There is only so much we can do at weekends, and less by far i can do at weekdays alone. Better for me to reserve strength t be of use to dh at weekends. Then ofcurse there are the weekends that the cold stunts us, ir the weather or just other areas if life.

Luckily we both hate things to be over manicured, a touch of wilderness always suits a rural property imo. ;)

Exactly, Dave....... but maybe the housing market steps in & you find you can't sell. Age comes gradually giving you a false sense of security but ill health can come without notice. :(

Tell me about it with ill health!! I'm only 34 but ATM falling to bits
I have ATM a severe vitamin d deficiency so I'm hurting a lot, joints hurting and aching, really tired too which means I can't do everything I want to do all the time :-(
I'm hoping I'm ok to do all the work we have planned, if all goes as planned but it will be allowances as most heavy labour work like digging and building stuff will only be done on hubby's days off and holiday.
Told him we need to get the sheds and my potting shed in first then on a dry day I can paint them while he's at work :-)
Once planters are built and in place I'll be ok getting them filled and planted.
Though even though I know I'm going to be in a lot of pain I'm looking forward to it as I know I can relax for a bit out there :-)
I love War Of The Worlds:heart2:

    evening commrades............

well i went with my son to salisbury to look at a car for sale.... a ford something.....what can i say but . soooooooooo dodgy on the paperwork let alone the hairline crack starting at bottom of front bumper, up through grill into bonnet with various chunks missing.... on enquiring "what did the car hit?" the man replied "a bird !" i nearly fell over and said "what a bl**dy ostrich !" :D
we declined without even mentioning that my kitchen bin was cleaner than inside that car !!........

we stopped enroute at various garages but nothing took his fancy... son su ggested calling in on my ma and pa on way home and 2 miles up road from them we stopped at a long running car sales lot and son despondantly mooched behind me until i suddenly saw the biggest grin ever on his face.... i burst out laughing as he looked like the cat that had the cream.... he had spotted a car and was IN LOVE :rotfl::rotfl:
now im no good at remembering car names but i know its a SUBARU ***** 2ltr sport ,4 wheel drive, blue and FAST.... twice what he was going to spend but we went on a test drive [owner just let us go alone !] and when son said it didnt seem to have that real umpf feeling when he took off...i pointed out that my head was on the back seat and the rest of me was super glued by the G force .....:D:D needless to say i sensibly told him to sleep on it and i will take him tomorow to BUY IT...;) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

CTC, I think that some places may now source peat free from municipal composting sites, which will may mix kitchen waste and shredded green material. If that's the case then the quality will vary considerably, plus you may also get the odd bonus rubber thingy that was dropped in with the kitchen waste by mistake :rotfl:

I used our local (free) stuff neat for growing on toms last year, but it needed quitte a few chunks of wood and half decomposed corn starch bags removing first.

Loaded our car today (not a Subaru rally car!) and will be car booting bright and early. So off to bed in half an hour, but here's a first. Just had an offer of a refund turned down by a buyer whose package was damaged in the post. He said the item could be repaired and it wasnt my fault. What a star!!!
  • Hi all :) I'm still here, reading all your adventures and misadventures in daydreams :D

I have been given lots of tomato seeds - is it too late to sow them for this year? Was thinking about getting them going then selling the baby plants, but won't bother if I've missed the 2012 tomato window...
