Let us know the final outcome OP please.Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

An error of judgement is a mistake.
Anyway - all this nit-picking is pointless.
The OP has posted for help. And help we will give them. They have been advised to cancel the deal. Hopefully they have done so so they won't end up pointlessly out of pocket.
Did they ever ask if they should honour the sale or cancel?0 -
As his wife didn't own the car it would still belong to her estranged husband and the wife could have got a criminal conviction for selling something that doesn't belong to her.
Anyway back to the original subject - perhaps the person selling a £299 item should have considered listing a courier service, yes it might have been something like £30 but if it was an item of furniture not many people would have had a van to be able to collect it with.
If someone offered me furniture I'd only be interested if they could deliver or if they lived in the same street.0 -

Why?
Not exactly sure the point of your post? Unless you're trying to be argumentative?
In which case, sorry, I'm not interested. Go and look elsewhere."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

I'm not trying to be argumentative I was wondering where they had asked whether they should go through with the sale.0 -
Yes there was a post a while back from OP which asked for a vote on whether to cancel or go ahead witha pointless sale. Just prior to my "look it's simple" post in my post history.I'm not trying to be argumentative I was wondering where they had asked whether they should go through with the sale.
But right from the start it was clear (to me) that this OP was looking for ideas on what to do or how to increase the money obtained from buyer. So mrcows post was accurate in anycase IMHO0 -

This was offered at £20 for 60 miles and turned down by the buyer0 -
With free listing weekends every few weeks, private sellers can list items for a reasonable starting price without risking a penny. If they don't sell, they can be relisted next time, maybe for a cheaper price, until they sell.
I don't really understand why anyone would list a valuable item for the everyday free listing price of 99p - with regular free listing weekends, there's absolutely no need to take the risk of selling something valuable for virtually nothing."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
