    thankyou x
  • Yes you will lose it if you have no other qualifying criteria such as disability or childcare costs.

I have childcare costs but currently in reciept of the childcare grant as I am a uni student on my placement year. This presents a problem in that come october I'll return to uni for my final year, so would need to find another job that gives me 24 hours a week alongside my degree, raising my son and doing all the housework and my extra curricular activities.
  • had the same letter hubby gets 31000 i dont get anything we have 3 kids newborn 3 6, but looking online it says over 32500 if 2 kids so why have my letter say 26000
  • I'll bet all this stopping tax credits will mean people can't afford to work, this stupid Govt will end up with more people on benefits not less......

  • The income limit for Child Tax Credit is going down
Child Tax Credit payments depend on your circumstances and income.
At the moment, you can usually get some Child Tax Credit, as long as your income is not over the limit of £41,300. From 6 April 2012, this limit will be lower for most people.
From 6 April 2012, the income limit for you will depend on your own situation. But as a very rough guide, you might not be able to get Child Tax Credit from 6 April 2012 if:
you have one child, and your annual income is more than around £26,000
you have two children, and your annual income is more than around £32,200
  • i have 3 kids, hubby gets 31000ish , i get nothing , why we getting letter about losing it as we earn more than 26000, god everytime i have a baby i lose money lol
  • hi, i received the letter too yesterday, what are the limits now for single parent with 2 children under 16?

    I think you are right.

I got the letter today and am sure that it has been worded so that some people will assume that they are not entitled to it now and therefore won't take any further action.

    It states:
Your claim for tax credits will end from April 2012 unless you contact us

    This is because:

-Your household income is too high to get a payment of tax credits now or
-changes taking effect from April mean that your household income will be too high, based on the information we hold, to get a payment of tax credits.

For Child Tax Credit the income limit is £26,000 for both single and joint households.

Because our income is more than £26,000 we will no longer qualify. So, best place for the letter is the bin and to forget about it.

Except, that's may not be true, because the limit is £32,200 with 2 children. We still won't qualify but many people with 2 kids will fall in that £26k-£23.3k category!

    Should get about £61.48pw.
