  • Just wanted to say, for a bit of inspiration for you, I gave up smoking last Saturday using the patches from the doctor :j . He gave me 3 weeks supply for the price of one prescription. The point is, because I am not constantly nipping to the shops for fags, the only thing that I have spent this week is £12.50 for school breakfast club. the kids are getting bus fare out of the change jar indoors and they are old enough that I can send them to the shop for milk or bread so I am not putting temptation in my way. If I were smoking I would have been to the cashpoint 2 or 3 times this week for the odd tenner and then it's gone before you know it:confused:

Don't keep talking about giving up, just go to the doctor and do it, you won't regret it.

Hi bessy, well done on all your efforts. I gave up smoking with the help of the pharmacist at my local chemists shop. I tried and failed with the smoking cessation group at the local hospital. Going 1 to 1 was much nicer because I didn't have to listen to everyone else going on about how they were missing the cigs, and I fixed up appointments that suited me. HTH :)

    Hi Bessy,

Well done so far it sounds like your making some great improvements.

I just wondered about something in one of your earlier posts..2 dogs and 6 cats??? I am a big cat lover, i only have 1 but love them and understand, but really...have you thought about how much these are costing you? We spend at least £15-£20 on our one! I was just curious to find out if its something you had considered. I dont mean to sound harsh but if you didn't have that cost and paid it off extra on your debts, it would probably save you ALOT of interest and help to pay it off earlier.

Also, i would get yourself signed up on ebay, and when its the free listing day, get rid of all the stuff you dont need! Once you see they are starting to make money it gets quite addictive!

Also, i 100% believe that your partner/husband will need to be on board with this whole thing before you can really be serious about it. £100 for a book?? Even to suggest it to you is terrible when you are trying very hard. Maybe you should ask him to read up a little on here, so he can see how this could all end up if you dont start working together to get the problem sorted out.

I dont mean to sound harsh, and i apologise if i have come across in that manner. Good luck, and keep up the good work !

Good luck with that, and make sure that you stick with it. When things get bad just say to yourself 'having a fag is not going to make this situation less stressful'. In fact it will probably make it worse as you will have the guilt of smoking on top of it too. Keep us posted, it will be nice to know that I am not struggling alone.
