    Hi

Have you tried living to the budget that payplan have given you to live on? If so you should be spending £563 on food and house keeping for example and £63 on clothes, etc.

Once you've made your payments to payplan and the mortgage and utilities you have no other urgent expenditure. That way if you spend less than the budgeted amount on an area eg food and clothes you can save that money for emergancies.

Payplan have organised your finances so you aren't struggling each month which is why the figures are higher than what you were actually spending. You could also cancel the direct debits on your account and pay you bill with cash that way you are avoiding bank charges so you do have this set amount of money to live off.

    I hope that helps
Thanx glad somrone understands payplan budgeting. Once car has been repaired i am hoping to start with the saving again.Didn't think of the dd thing ta!

You can still apply the DFW advice to cut back on your shopping and other bills eg insurance and then save that money too, then if / when your circumstances change and you have a review with payplan you can inform them of these savings.

You should be able to get back on your feet soon.

You don't say if you are over drawn with your bank, it might be an idea to open up a basic bank account with another bank incase they get funny, that way you can work with cash which is best way to get back on your feet, you can see the money being spent and manage it better.

Make sure you move the money for car tax/mot/birthdays/christmas etc to a savings account and only use this money to buy these things, by starting now you will have enough, you could buy car tax stamps and tv licience stamps that way you can't spend the money on something else and you've got the money when the time comes to pay.
  • Am not overdrawn at the minute, hopefully won't be from now on unless something else comes up! Have just openned a insant access savings account and will see about a cash account. My problem has always been if i've got it spend it :o !I know i have got to change this, so will continue to read threads in the forums and boost my will power! Am determined to sort this out, fed up of feeling sick every day, not sleeping, arguing with OH etc.

In that case you also need to write down every penny that you spend in a spending diary when you add up how much you spend in a day/week its an eye opener. Also you could join in the how much have you spent today thread and that way you are encouraged to stick to you budget and spend as little as possible.

I don't know if all your income goes in on a monthly basis or not but just withdraw what you have for you food shopping each week and then what you have for lunch money and put it aside. Writting everything down really is a motivator. This plan is designed to free you from the problems that you have you just have to stick to the figures and from the sound of things the budget it generous compared to what you have been living on recently. Keep your OH on board and weekly go through what you've been spending. Do you meal plans weekly and maybe buy food online so you're not tempted to add extras.

    You can do it.

You sound better already! I don't smoke so i don't know for sure but i'm sure the NHS will help you with patches and things so have a look on NHS direct for advice.
  • If, like me, the OP has spent ages living on next to nothing, and never buying clothes etc, then this will be her actual spend. But Payplan have minimum amounts that they will allow you to put down, and I think that those are what the OP has listed in the SOA? I think. :D
tank you for explaining it, you are right:D
