I've borrowed my nephew's laptop and managed to destroy it, Ooooop's, can you help?

    Thanks mluton, I tried that as I thought that would have done the trick, but the restore crashed three times in a row. So I guess the virus must have effected that too. Thanks for posting.

    I wouldn't use system restore - It's far better to use dedicated malware removal tools.

    System restore is a snapshot of the system state, which can include malware files and settings - windows doesn't differentiate between good & bad.

    In fact when you are satisfied the system is clean, you need to flush system restore & delete the existing restore points by turning it off, rebooting and turning it back on again.

    ...but before I go (only joking), once you've cleaned your pc, turn off system restore to delete all old (possibly still infected) points, then create a new (hopefully clean) one :)
