What benefits is she entitled too?

Wow, I did not think I would spark off such a debate.
Firstly, lets get one thing clear, I do not begrudge what I pay, I think its about right and like I said I dont mind forking out for extras *if* I feel they are justified.
I can only have her stay overnight at my house on saturday nights due work commitments, but I also pick her up from school whenever I can and she will have her tea with me and play with her mates on the estate for a few hours before I take her home. Her mother is fine with me having access as much as possible, no problems there either.
This "£50 a week is not much" comment is right in isolation. However she is not having to manage on £50 a week. Thanks to the tax credits and child benefit of £140 a week she receives the true figure is £190 a week, for one child. Its not my ex's fault she is entitled to all this and of course I don't blame her for claiming all she can get. It is just really annoying that:
a) She still moans about being hard up all the time , I don't know how much her mortgage and other bills are, but I cannot imagine they are any higher than mine apart from food bills perhaps.
b) She is receiving more than most single full time workers on decent wages despite working 10 hours less each week. Again this is down to government policy, but it really needs looking at imo.Current MFD 1st July 2026

Ashingtonian, you sound like a decent bloke so just carry on doing the right thing and giving your daughter's mother her child support. If she asks for extra try telling her she already is getting extra as if you went through the CSA you would be assessed to pay around £167 a month, taking into account one night's shared care. So you are already paying £33 a month extra to her. Good luck to you.0
