If your ex is renting she may also be entitled to Housing Benefit. Her income is quite high but depends where in the Country she lives.0

She has pretty much accepted the £200 a week (I looked on the CSA website and they said it would be £195), but she feels I should be paying extras for one off things like clothes etc....which I have done in the past but feel it would be unfair on me now..
She may feel that you should be paying for extras, but you are not obliged to, that is your choice. The £200 per month isn't your choice, she probably accepted that amount after realising she would get £5 less per month through the CSA.
Also, don't forget that if your child stays with you overnight for a certain amount of nights per year, your financial obligation is reduced accordingly.0 -
Yes its £200 a month, sorry for the typo and the daughter stays with me one night a week so really its a very fair amount imo. That is not my gripe though. My gripe is that she asks for extras, this despite the fact that thanks to the child and working tax credit she recieves she is effectively receiving the equivalent of a full time worker earning £22-23k a year, whilst working part time hours for a pro-rata salary of £14k a year......No wonder the country is f'ed.Current MFD 1st July 2026

In that case, advise her you will pay the standard CSA rate and consider contributing to some extras. The trouble is that give her the incentive to stop you seeing your daughter.
Develop the broken record technique; I already pay you more than required by the CSA. if you want me to pay extras, then I will have to ask the CSa to reassess the monthly payment.
But get the contact arrangments tightened up and recorded before you start that.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I wish I could bring up a kid on only £50 a week it's father was going to pay. And I bet the mother does too! When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

Have you taken into consideration all her outgoings as she is now a single parent? whereas bills etc were probably shared, she now has to pay for everything herself, a portion of the maintenance is for keeping a roof over the childs head, providing food, warmth etc. Not just having 130 a week to spend on them!
School is always asking for 2 or 3 quid for trips or events, I'm always glad of the extra money as it means my child won't miss out on stuff, the only time I ever ask, and I have to ask, is for the residential every year.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness.
