Just to update this thread, after making complaint to FOS they conatacted Budget on my behalf and staright away Budget came back with an apology and a full refund.

They are now saying I should never have paid any additional amounts because the incident was not my fault and they were at fault for trying to charge for changes which were caused by their error.

All as I initially suggested should have been the case.

So moral of story is if your not happy with the way these vultures are treating you and you believe you are in the right, you should first of all send your complaint to the company involved and if you don't get an answers or an answer your happy with then contact FOS.

I contacted FOS by email. It was very easy and simple.

This was always going to be a two sided debate and I could see both sides point.

£30 chgarge doesnt sound much, but in this day and age when car insurance is expensive it soon mounts up.

I've been intouch with a few companies via the FOS and they are very helpful.

Good result and well done. My other half's car got slightly scraped in a car park and she rang to ask the insurance company what to do. No claim, no nothing. I rubbed the marks out with T-Cut and that was that.

At renewal, she went with Sheila's Wheels and they came afterwards for an increase as she hadn't notified them of the incident, despite no claim.

Now I can't see the fairness in that situation. We all park in car parks and are at risk from bad parkers. If the damage is slight and can be polished out, why should the innocent party be double hit??

Obviously, the answer was not to have told the insurance company in the first place.

So I say well done and one in the eye for all those know-it-alls who have been proved wrong.
