Anyway I'll ask again if anybody can answer these points.

Am I paying extra because they see me as a higher risk because I'm likely to be involved in accidents and put in claims.

The above is correct. As someone has already stated, statistically non fault claimers (even though you didn't actually go through the insurance) are more likely to claim. For example, the car was parked on the road, maybe you live in an area where you are at risk from having people collide with your car, maybe the next person to hit your car might not stop and just drive off. In which case you are likely to make a claim on your own insurance.

Now, you can argue all you like with this, but the fact is insurance companies charge a premium for any sort of accident, even when it wasn't your fault. I'm currently paying £25 extra a year because a van hit my car (I had pulled over/stopped in a narrow lane to let him through) in the snow two years ago, even though he admitted liability and his insurance paid up.

Ok I've had my dinner now and time to calm down and think on.

What about this situation. Your in somebody elses's car there is a collision and you get whip lash and claim on the drivers policy.

So you were in a traffic accident for sure (makes you a risky person)
You made a claim (makes you unpopular with insurance companies)
    None of it your fault

Do you mention it to your own car insurance company ?

I would say not, but reading on here I'm beginning to wonder.

There is a technical term for this .
It is called taking the pizz
All insurance companies do it, when someone runs in to you, you have had an accident, what bull ?
However all is not lost, ask them for an invoice for the increased premium and send it to the other driver, he owes you the money, that is no accident, it is the law.

    I did wonder about that.

But how many years do I have to pay extra ?

How would I work out the total amount to claim, and wouldn't he get his company to pay it, so now I have 2 claims ...... never ending circle :)

Yes, this is the reason they give but as data is never released its not known how true this is. Insurance companies exist to make money for shareholders, not to be fair to policy holders.

I note that on the Budget Insurance site they ask about claims and state :
    "Accidents or Claims
This should include all motor-related incidents and claims made by or against you, irrespective of fault."

Insurance companies have a duty to ask all the right questions but based on the above i think its clear what info they require

Lets say somebody else drives into your garden wall, or gates and they pay to have the damage repaired through their car insurance.

Is this a motor related incident that you would mention to your own car insurance company ?

    I would say not.

"This should include all motor-related incidents and claims made by or against you, irrespective of fault"

Somebody explain to me what this means. A motor related incident could mean anything. Over the past 5 years I have experienced thousands of motor related incidents. Only one resulted in my car being damaged, the others were near misses, people cutting me up, folk overtaking when they shouldn't, aggresive drivers, car breakdowns, giving lifts to strangers etc etc.

Are we supposed to list every motor related incident ?

Call me facetious but I think some things are not relevant.

    More brilliant advice!
How on earth do you work that out.
and how do you think it could be collected. via the small claims track of the county court?

    Just oh so wrong.

No I'm not. The OP has made a false statement. The OP deliberately made no mention of a claim that they were required to during the application process which is fraud.

Fraud, - how many peole do you know who have been done for fraud for not reporting a supermarket trolley dent.

None. But plenty have been done for deliberately not mentioning when asked something that allows them to gain a pecunary advantage which used to be a criminal offence in its own right but has now been merged with other legislation.
