verbal abuse while parking in BB zone

What is interesting is not the abuse, but the fact that the complainant seems to think that there is a pecking order when it comes to disability."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Thought it was just me that found that a little...patronising?0 -
It's an interesting one, though, because I am sure that these spaces get abused (as do the parent and child spaces).
I'd bet that most people (especially those driving sports / executive cars, which tend to frequent these spaces) using these spaces who don't look disabled are _not_ supposed to be parking there. This guy's assumption, although as it happens incorrect, was probably reasonable.
OP, do you get frustrated if there are no disabled spaces left? Would you assume that many of the row of Audis / BMWs parked there shouldn't be parked there? I know I do when the parent and child spaces are full and there's plenty of "non-family" cars in there.0 -
Oh, they definitely do get abused. I was waiting for a space in the BB disabled spaces at my local council carpark (they are in a very obviously separate section) when I saw a young woman drive into one which became available, jump out of her car and start striding across in front of me. I put my window down and asked her politely if she had a BB, as they are designated spaces. Her reply?
"F*** off - I'm only going to be a couple of minutes"
I was still waiting for a space when the warden came round - was an expensive "couple of minutes" for her.....[0 -

reasonable assumption or not the behaviour was appalling
i had no problem with being asked do you know you are in a BB space?
no problem saying i do thank you and smiling as i continued
what i did have a problem with was the verbal abuse i then received.Proud mum :T

My bil was shouted out when he parked his motorbility car displaying a BB. He was terminally ill with cancer but to his credit he didn't respond. If it had been me, I might have said something.
Its so annoying that other people take up the BB spaces but I've been told that BB holders are taking parent & child spaces when all the disabled parking spaces have been taken.
An asda near us has an entry system on the disabled bays with a barrier which I think stops non disabled people parking there. I wish it was better controlled and became socially unacceptable to park there no matter how quick or what excuse you've got.The Cabbage

My father is 6ft 2" built like a brick outhouse and looks fine, while Infact he has heart failure, kidney failure, bloody pressure problems, diabetic etc and if he walks more than a few yards he's knackard, so he has a Blue Badge so he can park as close as possible to the entrance. However I'm a wheelchair user, I have to lift my chair over my body onto the passages seat and back to get into / out of my car, so I need a wide space to be able to open my door fully to be able to get my chair in/out and room to put the wheels on/off it. I don't need to be close to the entrance.....
So, does someone like me need a BB space more over someone like my dad.....I really don't know the answer.....0
