  • as an IT proffessional you should be aware that running more than one firewall on any system isn't reccomended and can be problematic.


    Depends on the firewalls you use. I've been running the configuration for some years (with upgrades as and when) without problem. But this is getting off the point of this subject.
  • This has been brought to our attention in a friendly and professional manor from the customer in question and we will do anything we can to aid in this matter.

    We have had no other complaints, but are speaking to our secure server people and software / webdesign people to check there are no holes or breach of security. We take anything like this very seriousley and are working late tonight to cover all bases.

    Thanks to all those who took time out of their day to bring this to my attention I can assure you any investigation is getting the highest priority.

    it can be problematic in that it can block more traffic than you want - I doubt very much running 2 firewalls would increase a threat of an intruder stealing the guy's credit card details.

  • Just got off the phone to Paul.
    He is, as you may expect, extremely concerned about this issue and has spent most of that last 24 hours looking at the matter.
    I wish him all the best in getting to the bottom of this, and, no, it won't stop me using his company again.


    PS I'm still awaiting an apology from lostsomewhere , wonder if he'll ever admit hes wrong.
  • Unfortunately I too have have run into fraud problems after ordering from Shopneo. It seems rather of a coincidence that within days of ordering for the first time from this supplier I have 3 attempts of fraudulent use of my credit card which I have used for 25 years without any previous fraud problems. Luckily the transactions failed because the security CVC2 number was incorrect.

    After hearing all these stories, it's probably a good thing I paid for my one order (so far) with Shopneo via PayPal. G

    Can you email me your orderid as im collecting reports with a view to filing a complaint to our credit card people.

    I have spent many hours since yesterday trying to track the source of any problems - it seems these issues are indeed isolated and have happened in the last 2-3 weeks. We ourselves have never once in 11 years had this happen so its as much a concern to us as it is to you.

    I would request anyone wishing to report problems to contact me directly as opposed to posting here as I want to deal with any issues personally - and I would also appreciate more details as opposed to a vague posting regarding fraud, it really isn't fair to us. Thanks.

  • That's really worrying - why ??

    I used ShopNeo on the 16th Feb 2007 for the first time - and then found that I had 2 paypal payments debited against my credit card on the 16th and 17th.

    I don't think staff are the issue - as they probably don;t get to see credit card numbers - more likely an IT issue.

    The payments have been disputed etc etc etc.

    It may be a coincidence - but it's certainly a worrying one.

    Paul Owen has been very prompt at returning emails but he does stress that is must be a coincedence. All in all not a great experience for a first time customer!
  • I should note that I have arranged a letter to be sent to all customers as a courtesy. I have absolutley no idea why or how this is happeneing and I am beginning to feel as much a victim in all of this.

    We're a small family run business since 1996 and this is the first time in our history we have had any kind of reports like this. I'm doing everything I can to investigate and to be as pro-active as possible by being visible on MSE to all our customers.
