Total Scumbag

Refunding privately or too easily allows these people to keep doing it. If all problematic sales were handled through the official ebay route then some of these people would struggle to stay under the ebay radar. It's these scumbags that spoil it for all the decent folk.
This case was opened in Paypal, so the seller would have had to refund anyway.
By forcing buyers into opening cases a seller is likely to end up with a restricted account, as they count against you & ebay-paypal do try & get disputes sorted out between the parties.
I'm not sure how much notice ebay would take of lots of disputes being opened by one buyer.0 -

No wonder so many get away with stealing from a seller, the seller is backed into a corner every time and can do diddly squat about it.0 -
It's disgraceful. Write to ebay and contact them on the phone.0

The ebay item number might no longer display what it was that you sold but doesn't paypal show what the purchase was for? Even if it doesn't, it will show that the person in question bought something from you and then opened a paypal dispute against you and had it refunded. That might be enough.
If not, I'd be sorely tempted to bid on it from someone elses account and find a way to neg her.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
My situation is of my own doing - but still wondering if to retaliate. I sold 10 items and 9 paid quickly, but one item of £1.99 had not. So i posted it anyway, to avoid another trip to the PO, as the buyer had very good feedback. I thought they would have paid by the time it arrived second class.
They ignored my payment reminder and got an NPB strike - but are still selling themselves. This week my item appeared for sale.
Not sure if to buy it back, claim non-delivery and trash their stars - or just move on.
As for the OP's story - i believe Ebay are now complicit in much of the Ebay fraud. They hid bidders ID - so we can no-longer warn fellow honest ebayers of scammers. They force us to refund without a claim, to avoid sanctions - meaning someone could get freebies every day by claiming non-receipt - and no-one would ever know or be able to act. Its scandalous.0 -
I think we need to put this in perspective though. Many of us sell hundreds if not thousands of items a year and barely ever meet an out and out scammer like this.
There are thieves and scumbags in all selling venues, I've had stuff lifted at car boot sales, I've lost items in my retail space so it happens everywhere in different ways.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Very true, I used to have a high street shop and theft was a constant problem, some people filled there pockets while I was watching! I try not to think about those dreadful times so yep quite agree it's the way it is however which way you trade0 -
I used to lurk on the eBay forums until they decided to upgrade it and ruin it completely. A while ago a seller had sold some shoes and the buyer claimed non receipt and was refunded. The seller kept a eye on the buyers account and sure enough about six months later the shoes appeared on the buyers selling account. The original seller contacted eBay, informed them of the situation even though the shoes had long dissappeared from the original sellers account. eBay looked into the situation and with in a few days the original buyer who had the shoes for sale was 'no longer a registered user'.
Op, it's up to you how you handle it, do you want to have satisfactory revenge with a big fat neg and trash the sellers stars. Or do you want eBay to handle it? I am kinda temped by the first option......0 -

I can't believe the cheek of some people . Once at a car boot sale a woman took a large teddy from my stall and gave it to her child in a pushchair and just walked off, I went after her but she just kept walking and totally ignored me. I just gave up on the basis that her life was probably ghastly and pathetic if she had to steal a teddy for her toddler and I have a lovely life so can pity her.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That may be true, but the police and banks don't tend to side with the thieves. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
