  • I started comping around a month ago, the first few days I back tracked through the comps and must have entered around 150+, It has settled down now and is usually around the 15-35 mark.

I have a feeling this number will be going up though once I start the advents and also the post entry comps as well :)

I try for at least 100 a day .. Most days I manage nearer the 200 mark. ..this is individual comps and not repeats like click to win or mag dailies which I only count on the first time I enter.
  • Hi all,
I used to do the odd competition on here ages ago and have just come back on to the forums.
I'm just wondering how many competitions a week people enter? I know it's not an exact science but how many do you reckon I should enter roughly to win something?

    Hi All,

Hope you don't mind me asking but I am new to the competitions thing. I regularly enter magazine competitions from the ones i buy but recently entered a few online.

My question is how much time to you spend a day/ week entering competitions? I know sometimes it is just for a bit of fun but is it worth it due to the amount of time and effort put in? I have a few hours spare each evening do you think it is worth me using that time to enter competitions? I know it is a bit of a lottery and one month(s) you may get nothing but just like buses your wins may all come at once! Has anyone on here ever one a substantial prize? Also what do you do with all of your wins? Use for yourself, give away as gifts or something else?

    Many Thanks!

It is a pure waste of time & would not encourage anyone to start comping as most comps are just a scam :-)

Maybe just have a look at these to see what a waste of time this comping lark is.

Then just treat it as a hobby. Enter the comps & see what comes back.Do not keep count , just enter & forget is my way.

There was a "test group" last year that ran for 8 months
They counted their entries & wins over the duration

The result of the "test group" was an average of 1 win for every 1,561 competitions entered

The last month it ran was September 2015

    September Summary (8 month totals)

25 compers entered the challenge in August
58 compers took part over the 8 months

    12/26 managed to complete 4,000 comps ;)

We were aiming for 100,000 comp entries :A

We actually entered 145,246 comps :j
We entered 1,020,876 over the 8 months

    We had 93 wins :T
We had a total of 746 wins over the 8 months

That is 1 win for every 1561 comps entered

Wow. Thank you both for replying. Great stats - sorry I am a bit of a spreadsheet dweeb.

Best of luck to you both in all the comps you enter.
  • I don't know how many competitions I enter daily, but I generally spend at least an hour going through all the comps that end on the current date.

There tends to be less comps to check at the weekends and Tuesdays seem to be quieter too.

If you want to know if it's worthwhile it's not the number you enter that counts it's time spent and how you value yours.

If you reckon your leisure time is worth a net £5 an hour than that's what you need to win to make it "worthwhile", so an average of one hour a day would need to produce about £1,800 worth of prizes a year.

If it's a hobby you enjoy then the numbers don't matter.
