Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 21st February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chatabout everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring andmotivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to dotoday or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) andjoin us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be awarethat many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help othersthat don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two dailythreads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each newdaily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you haveto though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Well yesterday went about as well as I expected, yet more problems with my machines. Yet more yelling & swearing on my part, all joy!
The high point of my day was making £20 on ebay, woohoo, I need to pack up the parcels to send off.
Fish pie for tea tonight.
Time I made breakfast now.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester, and all to follow.
Enjoying peace and quiet, a cup of coffee and a little surf before I wake up DS for school, lot milder here today thankfully, I just couldn't get warm yesterday.
Today am off out this morning as DD goes into college later, there is a new 'cheap' shop opened right by her college and Im going in there to pick up a few bits, mainly sweets and snacks for the week. They have lots of branded stuff and Im quite impressed with it.
Once home this afternoon will be preparing dinner, stew for OH & DS, Leek and potato soup DD & myself obviously followed by pancakes
. I applied for a little p/t job and I need to do an online test so will do that also this afternoon.
No other major plans, will have a quick tidy around and iron the few things that are in the basket.
(((hugs))) to whoever needs/wants one, have a great day.x0 -
Good Morning x
Hugs to Sunflower and BossyMoo xx
I am up and about this morning so really hope that this signals a return to better health. I have fed the dogs already as they seemed really hungry and can hear the piggies squeaking.
Really need to claw back the pennies as I need to start saving again. I have also been wasting food which is something I used to avoid at all costs. I have taken my eye off the ball recently
Yesterday I sorted my wardrobe and passed a lot of my clothes onto Mooloo and she seemed really pleased. It is much better that they are being used than just sitting there.
Hope you all have a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Spoke to my sister last night on the phone and she sounded better and less tired but now is suffering side-effects from some of the meds - so is having to take more meds for that! - first appointment for getting sorted arrived yesterday though so just waiting for the other one and hopefully that will come within the next couple of days - doc was referring her as an emergency due to how ill she was when she was admitted to hospital etc - hoping she gets sorted soon x
Dry but cloudy with a light breeze here this morning. Have already put washing out on the line to dry. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Work was really quiet for a Monday - but there's roadworks in 2 parts of the town and yesterday a car broke down on one of the bridges and apparently the town was gridlocked - normal short 10 minute journey was taking people an hour and a half! Think the Police will be having words as this is supposed to be the easy bit before they shut 2 more roads for roadworks as well next week for 2 weeks!? So on the strength of that I'll be doing another on-line shop to be delivered on Friday teatime - won't be wasting my days off being stuck in traffic and roadworks. We'll have to see what today brings at work.
Dinner last night was steak and ale pie, mash and veg for the menfolk and I had fish with parsley sauce, mash and veg. Did remember to get pork chops out of the freezer this morning so they should be defrosted for dinner tonight, mash, veg and gravy will accompany, and pancakes after for anyone that wants them.
Will call in at MrT on the way past this morning as lightbulb has just blown in kitchen and I've been unable to get the right size - hopefully they will be in stock and I can purchase some this morning.
Take it steady everyone x
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all, dull and chilly here today, hope the sun comes out later. Dog walked and fed so off to school in a minute. Curry for tea which DH will cook, it's lovely to come home to a cooked meal but I wish he could get a job. Not much OS today although I will spend 15 minutes at lunchtime sorting a bit of my cupboard-it's getting messy.
Hope you have a better day HH and that you manage to get everyone to the right place Moorhen

Good Morning All
Frost on the ground here in Essex when I took the dog out at 7am. A few chores to get through today and a bit of running around for Mum. Im hoping to bake a carrot cake this morning, got a lovely recipe but just cant seem to get the frosting quite right.
I read a thread on here about a couple of websites who buy old books, cd's and DVD's so I compared the prices on each and have 2 boxes of books to post to them. They should net me £28 which will go straight into my holiday fund!
Started my new Art course yesterday. I was a bit overwhelmed to be honest as most to the other participants had already had some previous experience but I shall stick with it.
Mum has had a cold for the past week but seems to be improving slowly so hopefully normal service will be resumed soon and I can get some of my "free time" back.
Im kind of new to this so I hope my post is appropriate and I wish you all a fabulous day.0 -
Morning everyone. Today is my crazy long lecture day (with the new addition of a meeting), definitely need something tasty in me for breakfast to keep me going- thinking toast, kipper and a boiled egg yum. I'm quite sad that I don't need to make bread this week as I'm going to see my sister thurs-sat. I can't believe how well the bread keeps and how long it lasts, a loaf made with 500g flour will last me(+a few slices OH) a week and it's only the ends that ever start to get a teeny bit stale towards the end of the week. I actually had a piece that was 10 days old form the last loaf that made nice toast.
How is everyone finding people to post clothes to? I have lots from when I was younger (and slimmer) that would be good for anyone with daughters 11-16 or someone very petite, can anyone please point me in the direction of the thread?Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Happy Pancake Day:D
Molly - hope you continute to feel better x x x
Essex Girl - good luck with the job x x x
Twiglet - what sort of art course are you doing?
Plans for today are housework this morning plus catching up on a little tv on sky + then am off to Morrisons later with my sister - using her petrol to do a little shopping.
Thats about it for today.
Take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0
