Not taking library books back in time!!! Not as bad as we used to be as we use a library books bag. The book gets taken out to be read, then put straight back, so it's easy to lift the bag if I'm popping into town.
It's me that is the problem, not the kids, I actually went to library and hadn't written the due date for my textbook. Ended up costing me 60p, just through being disorganised!
I forgot about library books! My last fine for books one week overdue was........wait for it............. £14.75 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
I've been paying it back in installments

Can he not make his own sandwiches in the evenings?Bargainloverbec wrote: »DH having to buy sandwiches for lunch because I didn't make him any the night before

Part of the problem is that after running around after a toddler and a baby all day I'm too tired to do much in the evenings!
No, not just you. Please tell me it's not just me!
Takeaways are the problem for us, certainly.0 -
Ooohhhhh.... Where do I start? I have lots of good intentions but life seems to get in the way. I think the "enemies" are:-
- Having little or no preparation space. My kitchen is an uninsulated shell awaiting further building work. Most of the time, it consists of a working sink, the stove, the washing machine, the fridge/freezer, several Ikea bookcases for storage and a kitchen table. Since we moved the kitchen table into the lounge at Christmas, the only work area is the top of the stove. Not really conducive to making chocolates for Easter or making candles (both items on my to-do list).
- Having to clean up beforehand/afterwards. Inevitable but a big disincentive when you're feeling tired. I'm day-dreaming about a sewing room/sewing space, where I can leave my sewing machine and equipment out and not have to spend 20 minutes setting things up for a 5 minute quick repair job. (the same is also true about gardening. Getting stuff out of our small, overstuffed shed is a real faff.)
- Procrastinating. Seriously, I can often spend more time thinking/worrying about doing something than it takes to do. Does anyone else have that problem?

Takeaways - due to varying causes I often get CBA or glum days, that is when the takeaway reflex cuts in.

Over buying - then not using everything up before it spoils.
Having full to the brim freezers (4 small fridge sized - 2 in fridge
/freezer combos and 2 free standing) and not using them all up.
Our diet coke addiction - costs us a fortune but nothing else will do.
Baby wipes - Johnsons. We have no babies (other than a kitten)
I think that is probably enough for now. I like to leave a few skeletons in the closet!

I have the same problem. I'll often have little sewing jobs to be done but the thought of getting the machine out of the cupboard, setting it up and then putting it away puts me off. So I think I'll wait until I've got a few things to sew then I'll do it, but the stuff ends up lying about so I stick it in a cupboard and it gets forgotten about!PipneyJane wrote: »Ooohhhhh.... We are guilty of the takeaway thing due to my being disorganised or CBA ! However , being inspired from various posts about slow cookers , have borrowed DD's and used it 3 times last week + have gammon in there now . Having coffee out is nicer than at home as it's usually with friends or DH , so a weekly treat . Feeling guilty now as just realised I could have put washing outside to dry + it's in the tumble drier .0

At our house it is definitely the "not taking anything out of the freezer" so having take away/Tesco curry and for OH sandwiches.
But life is for living as well - there is no way my OH would make himself sandwiches every day or even remember to take left overs from fridge the next day (unless working from home) so he can spend his own money on his own sandwiches and he would rather do that.
I have left overs or sandwiches or back up can of soup myself. I cannot just go and get lunch where I am really if you want time to eat it and relax as well (we have half an hour lunch and you have to drive to shop) and perhaps this is keeping me from spending on shop sandwiches.
When we have to have a take away because of nothing out of the freezer, we just look at it as "lazy dinner" that we deserve once in a while..
Obviously this is only because we can afford it. I just sometimes feel like lying on the sofa not moving a limb is worth every penny I am going to have to spend on Tesco curry for lack of cooking!
I also whenever I am in town fight with myself whether to get something in the town. Sometimes I only have 1 Gregg's pastry, sometimes I lose big style and have whole Subway meal (Oooh I love it!!), and only rarely I decide for home meal:-) Very naughty!0 -

Our brilliant library service sends automated emails notifying you that your loans are about to expire, so you can renew them quickly online before they do. I'm already quite careful with this because the fines are soooooo outrageous nowadays, as people have demonstrated here - but this particular service is fantastic if I've taken my eye off the ball. TBH the council are shooting themselves in the foot as it would be a great revenue-raiser and they sadly need it, but it's very welcome.Life is mainly froth and bubble
