Hi, first post but been reading for a year! This thread is great!
Over the last few days I've:
-mended the kitchen blinds
-mended the sitting room blinds
-made and hooked up new bedroom curtains
-reorganised kitchen cupboards
-sorted and reorganised a huge cupboard and linen cupboard
-reorganised a book shelf
-tidied one pile of 'to-dos'
-washed all the laminate and tiled flooring in my house
-washed kitchen windows (inside)
-cleaned out the toaster (such a messy job!)
-cooked and baked my heart out so now my freezer is brimming with enough to feed an army (inc 11 meals, 2 loaves of bread, 12 pots of pasta sauce, a carrot cake-hence my username!, and 6 chunks of garlic bread... bought a massive french stick from Tesco for 10p at 10pm the other night - bargain!)
-washed and soaked the labels off of 6 jars
-finally managed to get a particularly sticky mark off my kitchen surface which has remained for ages regardless of the amount of elbow grease I use!
-rearranged all my vases and bouquets of flowers into smaller vases, deheading flowers and scrubbing of vases
...I just got the bug! So proud of myself!
Still to do:
-sort the 'to-do' pile on dinning room table
-pay bills and things (ugh, hard labour feels more appealing!)
-make a chocolate and courgette cake for the freezer (courgettes are going off!)
-venture into the garden (nah, that's never going to happen!)
-find a rich husband to pay for a maid to do all of the above!0 -

Woooooooooo..... I actually gasped at this and realised my eyebrows had disappeared into my hairline. Are you serious?! lol0 -
I think it's about time I revived this thread which I started a year or 2 back. I am in the same boat in that I am always treading water or sinking in regards to non standard jobs. Therefore I'm going to get myself back on track again.
Yesterday I organised the top shelf of "the dreaded cupboard" and tonight I will start the bottom shelf. I'll do it for 30 mins as it may take a bit longer and I don't have more than 30 mins spare really - so 30 mins it is so I don't use it as an excuse to not do it!
Tomorrow I will put the suitcases back in the loft with the swimming/beach wear in it ready for the next holiday.Debt - CCV £3792

I'm very late to this thread but think it's a cracking idea.
Having recently (cough, eight months) bought my very own do-er upper there's plenty of non standard jobs that have been on my mind. It's so overwhelming that I've been almost frozen to the spot. So one small task a day sounds like a great way to get moving.
Tonight's non standard job will be removing the silicone from the leaking en-suite shower; a task in itself as the thing seems held together with silicone! Tomorrow's job will be de-grouting said monstrosity.
Have a great (and productive) weekend all

Great thread. I made some fridge jam because I'm going away for a few days and all the strawberries in the garden would have gone to waste otherwise. I also put my winter boots away in their box - can't see me needing them for a few weeks now.0

Hi guys - nice to have you on board

Today's NSJ was to get the suitcases packed up with the hoiday gear ready for the loft after coming back.
Tomorrow's will be to load them back into the loft. That will make me feel stacks better! I also have housework, yuk, but that's standard
lol

This is a great idea for a thread. I find that having visitors regularly is a good incentive to do those jobs that keep being put off. Our next ones arrive on Tuesday ;-)Downshifted

I've just made some breadcrumbs in the oven with 2 ciabatta I got for 6p.
Not entirely sure why, as I never really use breadcrumbs....it just seemed like a bargain I couldn't miss....?!?
The other day I sorted all camping gear and animal carriers I don't really use and shoved in loft instead of hidden around dining room and shed.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
LOL soo right re visitors.
I'm just about to sort the suitcases and store neatly away. Will free up space on my landing.Debt - CCV £3792

Great thread! My MIL is coming to stay tonight so I've cleaned the kitchen (obviously not a NSJ) but I also sorted and decluttered the shelves and drawers while I was at it! Trying to get up the motivation to do the cupboards now!Part time working mum of DS (2015) and DD (2018).
