My beloved girlfriend and her Sister drove to their health spa thingy last night and were about a mile away when they found a car just stopped in the middle of the road with it's lights on. They were a bit hesitant to investigate because it was dark and it was a rural road in the middle of nowhere land.

But they got out to check and discovered the poor driver had died and their car had come to a halt. So the called the Police and had to wait until they'd arrived, statements were taken etc etc.

How awful.

That would've spoiled the night for most folk, but not those two. They just told the spa staff about why they were late, they got a free dinner and bottle of wine. Then spent the rest of their night with their feet up watching Cheaters and drinking even more wine in their room ! Good for them !

Meanwhile, my dvd has still not been picked or despatched.

Where are my boys today, I hear you ask ? They're asleep. We stayed up until 3am watching movies. Bad Daddy !

You know I've had a postcard from my mate in Ethiopia delivered quicker. He's a charity worker, on a VSO scheme. He's in the middle of nowhere in thirdworldistan and his postcard STILL gets delivered faster than my dvd.

Anyway, dvd still not picked, nor despatched. Another little email from them though, worded identically to the last, how sorry they are for the inconvenience, why this isn't usually how they treat their customers blah blah blah blah.

Oh, btw. In addition to the postcard from Ethiopia, I've now had an item delivered from Israel too. And that was only ordered through Ebay on Thursday.

Hope you're all still alive, I know this thread is shockingly boring but, hey, what else to do ?

Anyway, so Auntie Bridget just opened the till and gave her all the money. How was she to know it wasn't a gun and that, instead, it was a ceremonial wooden phallus wrapped up in a black bin bag ? Of course, it was all covered up because of who the assailant was.

She also had the distinction of being the only sub-postmistress in Hoxton who could legally sell milk on a Sunday because she was a Freeman of the Borough. Even though she didn't stock milk and was forbad from opening on a Sunday by a council by law. And she wasn't even a man neither.

Ho well. Still no movement on my dvd. Still not picked, nor despatched.

Anyway, the stories she could tell you about the blackouts ... the things that went on in the air raid shelter off the Curtain Road ! Ooh aah.

Funnily enough, it was in Hoxton where she met a man who, in 1942, invented the wooden air raid shelter. He used timber chopped down from local parks & a revolutionary geodesic design to create a protective dome for all the family.

Sadly the advantages of wooden air raid shelters were not immediately apparent and he died a broken man, well of that and the blood poisoning caused by splinters.

A terrible shame.

As is the non arrival of my bleeding dvd (oh, what a perfect segway that was, I should work for the news on the telly).

Of course, when the tractor caught fire she just jumped off. The fact it was heading to the barn wasn't her immediate priority, rather it was not getting burned to death.

And if you look carefully, even today you might see the statue of Brenda ... that heroic cow which extinguished the barn fire using only the white liquid from her own mammary glands ... it's right beside the slip road to Heston Services.

Perhaps I should commission a statue to the staff member at https://www.iwantoneofthose.com who, in the execution of their onerous daily duties, decides to pick my dvd and pop it in the post to me ?

Just so that my little boys & I can watch 3D dinosaurs with our coloured glasses and popcorn and funsize chocolate bars and such like ? Weeks ago I ordered and paid for it. That's an eternity to wait for little boys. Yet they're both so patient. It's quite astonishing in children so young.

Life is short. Just ask Brenda.
