So I have a double bed I want to donate. BHF is opening a new furniture shop and are looking for stock. But to arrange collection I have to phone an 0844 number! Phone the current store and I get a short that's the only number. And head office gives the same answer but verges on the snotty.

So you're prepared to donate your bed, but you're not prepared to donate a few pence in telephone call fees. If the charity funds an 0800 number then I assume that just means less available for good causes. And no doubt they organise their collection through a single point (hence no local number to ring) because that's also better value for money. They're not doing it to annoy you."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

The thing with 0844 numbers (and others) is they're very expensive to call from a mobile at about 35ppm, yet they'll net the charity only about 1.5ppm. It's frustrating for people on mobiles who have free minutes yet can't use them on these types of calls.0

it can be arranged online just go to their web site and look for "donations"0

Is there not a local charity or community furniture project you could donate it to?0

After being a volunteer there before I wouldn't donate anything to them again. You would think they had to pay volunteers with how unkeen they were for people to help out... Also the price for some of the stuff.. They priced a washed out white tshirt for £5 because it was from Marks and Spencer!!0

You seem to misunderstand the name "Charity Shop". They exist to make money for a charity, not to provide charity to their customers.
Items should be priced so they make the most money for the charity. If that is £5 for a T-shirt, or £1 less than the new price, then so be it. If they don't sell initially they can reduce the price later.0 -
Have a look on saynoto0870.com They have alternatives for about 40 or so BHF telephone numbers.0

And an 0800 number would also be of no benefit to the OP in that case0
