I did try putting it on Freecycle as well. I didn't get any takers on freecycle either so ended up breaking it up to take to the tip. Seemed such a shame
This would never happen in my area... I just successfully gave away a crate of two-years-out-of-date cup-a-soup
Other items to note include:
- Airbed with a slash in it (someone was reusing to cover their plants)
- Chair with a missing leg that had been left out in the rain
- Stained mattress
- Box of damaged books
...one girl took two buses totalling 1hr38mins each way to collect a used vegetable steamer I was giving away.
I love living in a poor area, it makes things so much easier

I don't think there's ever an excuse for 0844 or any other profit generating number. I'm not saying provide freefone numbers; geographical will do.0

We have a local shop that sells stuff to raise money for the local homeless and it's great, the stuff is so cheap, it's literally 20p - £1 but is so busy it had to open another floor. It's great because the really down on their luck local people can go and get what they need; last time I was in there a homeless woman had just lost all her clothes so she was able to take a pick of everything at a reduced price of 20p each. It always has loads of stock coming in everyday from locals, I joked that our household pretty much kept it going when it first started as we farmed all our stuff out to them. it's great too that they take things that just need a little fixing, I needed a house phone but didn't have enough money to splash out on one, bought an old fashioned Bakelite one in there for 50p that I took apart and fixed. That's the way all charity shops should be run! For the local people, by the local people.0

BHF I think you'll find BHF see shops as fundraising0

Theres a brill charity shop near me which sells all kids clothes at 50p or a pound and adults clothes at one to two pounds, all clean and good quality and its always busy. Because it doesn't take advantage with the pricing lots of people donate to it because they know that their donation will sell and make money, not sit on a rail for ages and get shipped around to other branches0

We have no less than three BHF shops in my town, all of which quite frankly overcharge, there is no excuse.
I have seen beaten up old washing machines worth probably £40-£50,priced up at £120-£130,one fridge freezer I saw priced at £130 I wouldn't want it in my house,it was discoloured, tatty and not too fresh smelling, what planet are these people on?,do they seriously expect sane hard working people to pay these extortionate prices, just because it's for charity?,more to the point would they pay these prices?....I somehow think not, BHF in my opinion is in danger of losing an awful lot of the support given to it in the past if this situation is allowed to continue.
I for one would never support these shops again, prefer to advertise on Freecycle than see someone get ripped off.0 -
