Sorry but the engine is NOT problematic. Poorly maintained or badly used engines might be problematic, but ones that are used correctly are absolutely great! Do some research, understand how the engine works, and know what parts to replace, and it's an excellent, reliable car, and due to the massive depreciation, a great moneysaving buy. For a 25mpg sports car with real back seats that are easy to get into for an adult and a decent boot.0

cracking cars for the money but the road tax, sub 20mpg potential, engine flooding the market has nose dived on these0

Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

That's a fair comment about enthusiasts, but I'll just point out that anyone who passes their driving test now (with the maintenance element added) who is told to check their oil once a month, has pretty much all the knowledge they need to run a car. And everything else is in the manual (about not starting and stopping cold to cause flooding), but then maybe only car enthusiasts read the drivers' manual these days. Kindof makes you realise why the standard of driving is so low these days!0

Nobody reads manuals any more, for anything. That's why modern computer games make you go through a sodding tutorial level that starts with things like "Use the joystick to move", it's why Clippy exists. If people wern't forced to pass a test before driving you could be damn sure they'd just jump straight into a car on their 17th birthday, not have a clue what to do and go out and kill somebody.
I guess we should be glad that instead they're just killing Wankel engines.0 -
Not sure Lum, too many bad drivers and not enough RX-8s for me, maybe if all the bad drivers killed each other...
I'm starting to sound like Clarkson now aren't I?!!0
