best way to sell used Mazda RX8??
Options
My wife is to get a company car meaning her 57 plate Mazda RX8 will have to go, we usually just part ex but that wont be an option.
Anyone give us an idea what we should be looking to get for it, 57 plate 231ps 6 speed with full leather, 20,000 miles, slight scuff to one alloy & few very minor dints to the bodywork. Full service history.
Are we better going onto autotrader or ebay or other?

Try Autotrader, it is cheaper than Ebay.
Don't expect too much for it. RX8 is notorious for its awful fuel consumption.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Plenty on Autotrader with that age/mileage, 5-6K seems the price range.0

think Id be happy with that Thanks0

Personally I'd be wary of a low mileage RX8 as these cars need a good thrashing from time to time to keep carbon deposits from building up and eating away at the apex seals.
If the low mileage is due to it mainly being used as a weekend car then it may be beneficial to put this in the ad. If it's mainly been used for short distance commuting, urban trips and/or the school run, keep that quiet and you're probably wise to be getting rid.0 -
Autotrader however tends to attract the scammers wanting you to ship abroad and they'll pay double the asking price etc., and companies who claim they can sell your car on non-existent websites if you pay them £80 over the phone.
Using eBay, you can also personalise your advert more, you can add much more information and photos than Autotrader.
Seeing as it's a sports car, try advertising on Pistonheads too.
Having said that though, I sold my last car to someone on Autotrader (and I advertised on eBay as well!) - did have to put with the scammers though!0 -
undercut the competition to sell the old girl0

Why not go to the Mazda RX8 club forum and advertise it there. That is where you will find a ready market.0

Pistonheads and owenrs clubs first off, they are free.
Do a search on Autotrader and find cars close to yours spec and milage, to get a good idea of a keen price.
Document all servicing. Indicate in the ad whether it's had long journeys, that you are aware of the oil top ups required and have kept on top of this, that there are no issues. 20k in 4 years isn't "low milage" for a weekend car.
Make sure it's nice and clean, get good pics, get the wheel refurbished so the car looks perfect. I'd spend a couple of hundred with a body shop to get minor imperfections fixed too for sale. Will save you the cost in haggling and make the car more saleable. It's a real buyers market for RX-8's, they're hard to see due to perceived high fuel costs (true) tax (also true - make sure it's got long tax on it) and unreliability (not true if you drive and keep them properly!). You'll have to price it keenly and realistically, any buyer CAN simply walk away and get the exact spec they want. At least is't the 231bhp version!
Autotrader is about £45 for 3 weeks online + 2 weeks in the magazine, Ebay take a cut and are fairly pricey, about £30 I think, so try your free options first and see if you get any interest.
It's not a car I'd look forwards to selling to be honest, the second had market has not been kind to them, which is a shame as they're GREAT cars.0 -

Still, at £9.99 for an advert, it's cheap and you reach a large "Drivers car" focused market. Autotrader is £45, Ebay around £30. Previously I've had cars on Autotrader and Pistonheads and I've received calls on about a 50/50 basis from the two.0
