OK I've owned one and the fuel consumption isn't as shocking as everyone says. I got 19-20mpg out of mine (231bhp) (and yes, it got thrashed alright). That might shock a Fiesta driver, but the official combined figure for economy is 25mpg. That's the same as a Nissan 350Z, which is considered one of the closest competitors (it doesn't really have a competitor since it has 4 seats and doors).
For the ad, people will be looking for 'warm starting issues' for signs of engine trouble, so a line along the effects of 'starts every time' would be useful, if true! Make sure people know about the leather, Bose 6CD changer, Xenon headlights etc. Metallic paint?
Tax - The tax, again, is in-line with other cars of the same age and performance. Going for a car before March (I think) 2006 brings the tax down.

  • The engine in the RX8 is renowned for being one of the worst on the roads, hence the low selling prices.

It's only bad if you don't look after it properly, and the procedure for looking after it properly is different to every other car on the road.

The rotary engine needs to be given a good regular thrashing and be taken up to the redline in order to burn off carbon deposits that would otherwise destroy the apex seals and bore lining. Unfortunately a lot of people bought the car just because it looks pretty and then babied it, never taking above 4000 RPM mistakenly believing that this would help preserve the engine.

This is why I was saying that the OP needs to state how the car was used in the advert. Especially since a lot of sexist buyers are going to automatically assume woman driver + scuffed alloy + door dints + low mileage = never drove it hard, only ever drove it to Tesco.

s b - making my point, and Lum's - people should be put off the bad, poorly maintained cars, not the good ones. If OP's car doesn't start in the petrol station (ie when warm) I wouldn't be buying it!
If anyone buys the first, cheapest RX8 they see WITHOUT Googling it, they're asking for trouble. You should do your research before buying any car.

yes no worries its just that it could just look like a badly worded advert
your post was good by the way
sorry if my laughing came over badly:o:)
  • ebays good because you can list everything (and you must or they can walk away) then get your listing fees back if they dont buy.

But, it can cost £30 or more in listing and final fees

Autotrader is good because its sold as seen, however you have to see a lot of tyre kickers which is annoying. some look at your car for 2 hours then go "nah.."

Compression test is a must if looking to sell on the owners club

The RX8 is a beautiful car. I'd love one myself. Sadly the Wankel engine is too problematic..thats why they dont hold value very well.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
