The hospital has a contract with a security company which provides hospital security and also runs the car parks

and regarding claiming on the insurance, I appreciate that it is possible but why should my friend have to do that and pay higher premiums for years to come? Clearly the hospital should have some responsibility for damages happening on its premises...what would you do if you were a hospital visitor and your car gets damaged at the hospital car park you have paid to park in?

    Doesn't make sense, does it?

Look at the supermarkets - they make £billions in profit from the people who park in their car parks. Yet there are hardly ever any CCTV cameras in the car parks, but there are hundreds inside the stores. When do you ever see customers asking stores for car park CCTV or lobbying their MP for changes to the law to make car park owners liable for damage?

P.S: It's a little rich to blindly assume that it wasn't a member of hospital staff ;)

    There are two differences here:
1- You dont have to shop at that supermarket if you dont like its car park while unfortunately you can not pick and choose at the work car park.

2- Supermarket car park is free (the money you are paying are for the goods you are buying) while we pay £25/month to park at work

Previously in the thread you have grumbled that a space isn't guaranteed for this car park from hell!

So what do you do when you cannot park there?

And why don't you just do that all the time?

Is there not a park and ride you could use instead of the hospital car park.

had flat tyre at work car park last week myself, as did a few of my colleagues. It is also barrier entry.

I had to pay for my own tyre though, it is life unfortunately.

nobody forced you to write or read peoples posts
you will never get definitive legal advice on a forum
so tell your friend to get some real legal advice if they so wish

I assume you will continue to use the car park?
