Again I have to agree with you - from what I gather about yourself, and myself I know for certain, I am effectively locked out of a lot of jobs for the simple reason that I've worked hard, gained some specialist skills etc. Whereas if I perhaps had less on my CV I would have less problems picking up a job.

i'm not being rude as I dont want to start an argument with you, but why not put less on your CV? If your CV is a burden only put on what you feel will get you work.

    Who only works part time?

    yes I have an idea,

    no I do not know

    yes I am a !!!!!!!, but a upfront one

of course you wont be replying you only want sympathy. Youve been on here all bloody day, (yes just like me but im trying to get some bank details from a person) how productive is that?

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting sympathy or not on here. Surely the right thing to do as a good person is to offer them sympathy and support?

I've been on here most of the day because I started my day asking a question. Most people can easily switch between job hunting on the internet and posting on here. In fact people shouldn't spend 100% of their time job hunting, I was doing that and writing applications from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed is not fun at all, that's more work than anyone does in a paid job. Not to mention I started noticing that the quality of my applications was dropping because I was completing one after the other.

No I don't think you're being rude or looking for an argument - my apologies if you think I've been responding in that way, not my intention at all sorry.

Yes you are right, and I've tried that before but unfortunately it left me in a tricky situation at interview where they realised I'd left out parts of my education. It's difficult to cover up the fact I spent the past 5 years at university as it's effectively lying and it lead to one sticky situation where I wasn't offered the job.

I'm not saying it's something that's completely off limits for me, but I want to avoid getting into situations where I find myself effectively blacklisted.

this is a discussion board, you start discussions at your own peril. You are going to get people like myself who will tell you how it is. Believe me im not stupid. you ge tpeople trying to get their point across but there are leaks in the story/answers etc, you then get people who cannot discuss without putting swear words in when they get backed into a corner where they know that there are answers that they do not want to hear. They do like answers such as, 'poor love, it must be aweful' or 'oh I feel so sorry, isnt this governement making this country bad' etc etc.

The fact is we live in a hostile world, we are living in bad times wether the current government are to blame or not. We have to fight for everything, life isnt free. You get people who are quite happy with £70 per week JSA (ive already said this about a family member) But these people who winge on about how much they do not have will not help themselves productively such as doing some voluntary work, or even (if age permits) do an apprenticeship for £2-60 per hour. look at LadyMissA she has scoffed the fact that she would not work for £2-60 per hour, however she did not say if she meant if she was a 17 to 23 year old

Ive even given this woman links to public sector/private sector jobs that her skills should get her an interview, wether she got the job is another issue but persoanlity wise I doubt it very much.

Nozone, if you care to tell me your qualifications this could help me with my comments, however rough, or truthful.

Silky - you are not in position to advice people..... really... you completely ignored my post to you/about you few pages back as it probably hit a nerve.. Never mind..LOL

Yes, I am back in NHS from.. next week or week after. But I would never advice anyone to get a low pay/no skills job, especially not someone (anyone) with years of professional experience and a few decent (not NVQ type) qyalifications under their belt.

  • .... There are some very deluded people on here that's all I can say. Telling people how easy it is to just up sticks and move to the other end of the country just to find work.

Because it is just a case of packing a suitcase and off you go!

    How do you travel there?
    Where do you live?
Where do you get the money from for travel costs, accommodation deposits, rent in advance, rent until you eventually manage to get a job. Living expenses. Moving all of your belongings?

All of that just on the off chance that you may be more likely to get a job? Some people really need to get a reality check!

I'm sorry but I'm not following you here - I didn't say you were stupid, I wouldn't presume anyone was stupid unless they post a lot of stupid things.

You seem to be saying that compassion and facts are mutually exclusive - by all means tell it like it is (I think that's why 99% of people are here - for real advice) but it costs people nothing to throw in a bit of sympathy with their advice. Conversely, sympathy by itself is nice, but unhelpful.

I'm sorry but I can't really hold it against someone if they scoff at working for £2.60 an hour when the minimum wage is £6.08 an hour. You have to ask yourself - would you?

Yes I realise you have given her links which is very helpful, I've not critisized that at all, however, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought her point was that finding a vacancy is not the same as actually getting the job, which I agree with, and was a post I made a while back.

I'm spending a hell of a lot of time looking for jobs, and have been since Semptember, and nothing has come good as of yet. I know what I need to do (keep looking), I interview well and there are plenty of jobs I'm qualified (and some that I'm overqualified) for. The main reason I was posting was to reiterate the fact that it is by no means easy actually securing a job at the moment.

Chances are they've not done it themselves and are sure they will never be in that position.

As I've mentioned I've done this, and I would never tell someone that they need to do this otherwise they are just too lazy to work.
