i would be annoyed if he was doing that when we were having problems with our sex life but if everything was fine i wouldnt be bothered and yes my ex's used to tell me when they had or were going to. the other night infact the boy said to me "right im away to bed for a w**K ill text you when im finished" i just laughed and told him to enjoy!

I've had one relationship where there was frank honesty about sexual issues. I.e I just had a w!!k. And another were it is not mentioned at all. The one where it was mentioned was a much happier and healthier relationship overall.

If they aren't having sex any longer and he (or she for that matter) is masturbating then there is a problem with the sexual side of their relationship and/or a wider problem in their relationship which is affecting their sex life.

As for telling one's partner whether they've masturbated or not: not a problem in my book. OH and I tell each other stuff like that all the time. We're really intimate with each other about all bodily functions. We wee and poo in front of each other for example. I know though that some couples find that kind of thing revolting. Some need more space than others.

What is weird, is the fact that he was doing this whilst being filmed for a TV show. Perhaps he forgot that the camera was there. Don't think I could forget...

Do some people actually think that the actual act of masturbating is wrong???? It seems that some people here do! I have to say I am very surprised.

And as for the idea that it is the same as making love - or that it is only one or the other..

No, we don't talk about it like that. It can be said in a humorous sentence, as someone said "blah blah blah normal daily routine have shower etc.. " or something, but we don't share exact times. Just no need. I wouldn't think it weird though.

We do pee in front each other, but poo?? Not that the act is disgusting, normal bodily functions, but doesn't mean I want to smell it!:-)
