Hi there ! Thanks for checking on me
Doing ok thanks - hate this last week of the month , with no money !
So , going to try the putting each weeks money in an envelope , it has to last a week or go without ! My biggest downfall is debit card - doesn't feel like real money so you don't notice it if that makes sense ?
Anyway, ended up borrowing £10 for petrol so I didn't have to walk home ! But that's the last time - budget time ! I sincerely hate the last few days , no money , no rainy day money & no family around to help .... It sucks !
What has become clear to me is that I can't stay here long term / I just cannot afford it so got to start looking at options.
Anyway , thank you all once again, for listening to my ramblings
At least it's Friday tomorrow so will have a few pennies in the bank !
Hope you all have a nice evening

Coco - have you tried divvying up your money into separate accounts? i do this for food, petrol, holiday saving , emergency etc and transfer some into each account every month. they are all on my online banking so i can check them every day. When I need to get petrol I still use my debit card from my current account but transfer the money back from the petrol account to my current account.
You do still have to be quite disciplined this way but I have found it works for me and anything left (:rotfl:) in my current account is mine to spend IYSWIM?It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Thanks for that - might be the answer . Trouble is , have had one joint account for everything since I got married , chuck everything in all Direct Debits , shopping etc all comes out, then come 3rd week of the month we had nothing left so , bang on the credit card it went & so it knocked on to the following month.
But , on the positive side , now I can't & don't want to live like that and am doing well so far , it's just going to take a bit of organising
I need to be super strict in April as it's going to be super tight !
Now have my current acct & a separate online saver so I think I will just leave dd money in current acct , transfer the rest into e saver acct & then transfer a set amount back each week.
Going to open more accts this weekend & have diff ones for everything.
Whilst I don't mind making meals out of nothing I do detest scrabbling around for petrol money to get to work so a strict budget is the only way

It does take a while to build up the different pots but I find it psychologically helpful to know that although I have nothing left in the c/a for treats etc at least food and petrol has been taken care of. You will find it easier to adjust to the different budgets as the months go by.It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Am due a free upgrade on my Smartphone beginning of May and, as I am happy with the one I have got, think I might put it on ebay and see what I get ..... A rainy Day Fund I thought !! Also, have a newish I Pod that I never use so may try that one as well...... I can see how that could become addictive

Hey Coco, I recently also had an upgrade on my smartphone. I recycled my old iphone 3GS with O2 Recyle (I'm too new to add the link but you can google it) and got £84.50 for it, the money was in my account within 2 weeks via direct bank transfer.
Other sites are available but I thought I'd share my personal experience on this one as it was faultless.FTB:A Saving for my first deposit :A0 -
Brilliant thanks for that
I actually went around and gathered up 4 old phones to recycle whilst having a clear out so will have a look at the 02 recycle thing. Might as well get a bit of cash for them.
Finally made it to the end of the month (paywise) and its felt like forever ! My spending diary definately helped though - having to, not only, use cash but also writing every single down that I bought was the biggest incentive for not spending ever ! So hopefully this month I can keep a good track on things.
Its Friday, the sun in shining so heres to a good weekend for everyone

Snap, got £36 from o2 for my old blackberry and have sent off another old phone (must be about 10 years old!) to another company who are giving me £1.07 for it! There's a link on the main MSE site which shows you who will give you the most money for each phone.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Well here is a strange thing ...... Not sure what you lot have done to me but , yesterday was Pay Day - normally "woop it's pay day" but yesterday it was "ok , so my budget is £££ for the next 7 days " ... How very odd
kids been so good & no moaning about cutting back - so we had fish & chips for dinner as a treat / bargain treat I say !!!!
Also , before I do shop today they have been given a "virtual fiver" so , if they want fancy cereal , expensive ice cream or some cola drink , they have to take it out of their own £5.... But they can't decide what their treats are so they have decided to save it for mid week pick me up !!!!
We are all learning I guess
Happy weekend all !

Good girl! Suddenly saving money become more addictive than spending it. It's a lovely feeling isn't it?It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
