Hi
I received a letter they were going to increase my package by £3.50 a month. In the T&C's on the back it says
"If you do not wish to be bound by these changes you can cancel your contract with us without penalty. The process to be followed in out terms and conditions at virginmedia.com/legalstuff"
Now I called to cancel however he said there WOULD be a termination fee as he has offered to get rid of the £3.50 and as thats now on the account I cant cancel?? He said they've had it confirmed by offcom??
Does that sound right? If it is whats the point in saying on the letter you can cancel?
I want to leave them anyway as the broadband is shocking and sky have offered me a cracking deal to go back.

As per the T&C you can leave if they raise the price of your package, they are now not going to raise the price of your package, you cannot leave.0

I've a funny feeling they'll do that with me:D The £4.50 increase on my account will take effect on April 1st however I can't cancel till March 1st as I'm still under contract. Although it's not what I want to happen it's better then paying the increase. If this is the case I'll threaten to cancel in July to see what I can get

Also I reckon they've been deluged with people trying to cancel & now they're trying to keep the people by taking off the price increase so retentions don't need to offer a deal to stay! Hmmm very crafty!0

He's having a laugh. Your right to cancel is based on the tariff increase. not what type of 'deal' they can do for you. If effect, this is of limited use, as bill credits simply drop off the bill leaving the user paying the full cost, and no opportunity to terninate. If the call centre staff refuse to take your cancellation, a letter to Cardiff will get things moving, as you are asserting your rights under the waiver VM offered.0

Just be careful that they don't sneakily put you on a new 12 month contract. If you phone them and initiate a change in your monthly price plan they very often do this. Phone customer services and just check what stage you are at in your contract.

Got the email today saying our package is going up £3.50..
Our 12 month contract is due to expire in april anyways but I'm unsure on what to do as we are currently paying:
£39.91 for
T V Size: L
Broadband XL(30)
V+ HD Monthly Fee
Telephone Line Rental
£49.90 but includes a £9.99 recurring credit for 12 months
So come april our price will be £53.40:eek:

I also got this letter today, i'm having to move house at the end of the month and I may have to move into a non virginmedia cable area. I signed up to all three services back in october so I have about 8 months remaining.
Does this allow me to cancel my contract without any issues?Audi - Vorsprung durch Technik0 -

Don't tell them that you're moving house. Just say that due to the price increase, you are entitled to give 30 days notice for cancellation.0 -
I have this letter too. its just one of the many letters of intent to raise various household bills in April.
I plan to ring VM and see if they can waive it, give me a better package, or have a look around to see where else we can get a better dealThe opposite of what you know...is also true0
