Our cat often went missing and usually ended up with a call from a vet after being taken their by a concerned cat lover. He was microchipped so they had our details. He once went away for about 6 months and then out of the blue, we had a phone call from a vet in Sheffield, we live more than 100 miles away! The vet was shocked at the distance and we never knew how he had got there.

Sad to say we last saw him about October 2010 but because of his roaming nature he could be anywhere. One thing we did do was to fit a catflap in the garage door and turn it to 'out' so a cat could get out if it had gone in for a sleep but no cats could get in.

Hope you hear her meow soon!

    Thanks everyone!

I am waiting for the binmen to appear at the top of the street so I can ask them and give them a flyer and I'll have a word with the postie too this morning.
I'm planning to leaflet another street today and knock on some more doors.
She has been registered as missing with national pet registry and Missing pets uk and both vets in town.
Missing pets have been fab; a very nice man rang me last night to have a chat and see if he could offer advice to help.

She is micro cipped so could easily be returned if scanned.
Thanks for all your well wishes!

  • I would also call the local animal shelters to keep an eye out for her. You never know.

My mum's cat went missing a while ago for a week but turned up unharmed. It's also the start of the breeding season so could have to do with that.

    I'm sure you'll find her!

    Fingers crossed for you xx
  • Have you tried Facebook - in my local area there are groups like "pets missing Doncaster" and "pets for sale Doncaster" which are found using the search bar. I have seen people post up lost and found pets in these and if others comment it can quickly get the message out in your local area.

Saying that we had 3 kittens and mum go missing/ stolen a couple of years ago - mum was found 3 months later (a lady had been feeding her over summer but when it got cold decided to report her to the vets where we had reported her missing) and so we got her back - but we never got the kittens back :(

Hope your little one comes home soon x

Well, no news yet but I have put some more posters up and been out calling and listening. I few people have stopped and asked about her which is nice and one said they saw her sunday on the street behind us so she may well be in that area.
Aslo rang the council and left a message and the manager has just phoned me back to check some details and said they hadn't picked up any cats recently.
Off out again in a minute...
I knew there was a reason for buying a job lot of printer ink!!
If anyone has anymore hints and tips, please keep them coming. As I walked up a street this morning my other cat accompanied me the whole way meowing contantly...wish she would show me where her sister is :(

  • Try talking to people in the area who have lost cats themselves - there may be a local area where strays migrate to - we have one near us, its a bit of wild wood among an estate and foxes congregate there and so do stray cats who eat up the scraps left by the foxes - I ring people who put up lost posters to recommend they look there too, and have sucessfully helped two (maybe more) find their cats - its a tucked away wild area that many locals dont know exists

You may need to have a look at Google images to see if there is similar in your area
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow
