It's a common thing.
We had about a 5% drop out rate at the last minute.
Yes, it migh seem a bit inconsiderate, but remember what is the most important day in your life to you, is just a party to some. Things happen, circumstances change. To fall out over it seems a bit of a shame really.0 -
Please don't judge her, she didn't ask for comments like this, or the one about her having too much money. We're all on hear for help not hinderence. I hope you get things sorted hon. I think it's really unreasonable to give your excusses 1 week before. People do usually plan alot further in advance, so they should have told you weeks ago.dizsiebubba wrote: »Wow! I'm not suprised they felt they could cancel on you, you aren't exactly painting a nice picture of yourself here...
I consider all but the 'builders' as very valid excuses and not always forseeable a month in advance.
Hopefully you don't moan too much to your other guests about it as you may find you lose a few more friends along the way...
I hope things work out for you xxxMarried the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140 -

I had one person text me (TEXT ME!!!!!) the evening before saying that their partner didn't fancy the journey from Birmingham down to Kent, so wouldn't be coming any more. Another two just didn't turn up on the day.
Incidentally, I've not spoken to any of them since.
:eek::eek::eek::eek:
I wouldn't speak to them either!!!!!!! How RUDE! :mad:Oh dear koloko, I feel your pain. Stuff 'em. You'll have more fun with the guests who DO want to be there.
I had a guest and her fiance accept and then cancel because of their cat - no-one would look after it. As it happens, I'm glad they didn't come.
And 14months after sending invites and 5 months since the wedding I still haven't had a response from about 8 people that were invited. 1 person accepted and then didn't turn up on the day, and I've never heard a word of apology from them.
People are just rude and inconsiderate sometimes.

I can relate to this though. Just because its a cat, you can't judge them for it.
We have a house cat, which means we have to feed her 2 times a day and clean her out, and unless we can find someone to look after her, or take her with us, we can't go most places unless we're coming back that day.
Luckily my parents will have her whenever we ask and are having her when we go on Minimoon.
But 1 week is out of order for those petty reasons. Like people have said, things change, but those reasons are all things that can be sorted before a week!
Our day guests are very mainly close family, so I'm hoping they would have the courtisy to let us know so we could replace them if need be. I'm having an issue with my sisters boyfriend/ex as they have been/are together for over 3 years, but atm they're very much in a limbo as to if they are together, and its only one place at the day meal, but I want to know if I can put someone else there if hes not going to come!0 -

Hmmm. If they were real friends, they wouldn't cancel at short notice unless it was an emergency!!!!
MrsShawToBe - that sounds like quite a restrictive lifestyle to me. No way would i have a pet that would prevent me going anywhere overnight  but each to their own. At the end of the day, a cat is a cat and it will fend for itself if it's healthy and mobile. And I say that as a bona fide cat lover.

Totally opposite end of the scale - I've had a family friend inform me (through my sister) that she won't be attending... I haven't even sent out any invites yet!!! Least I've had plenty of warning! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0

To me, it's no different to us having a child. If we want to go to stay at my mums, the cat's stuff has to come with us, the same way we'd have to cart a babies' stuff with us.
If you have a child, you can't just leave it overnight to go out.
She could fend for herself if she wasn't a house cat, but we got advised to keep her indoors as she is missing a leg, and have since been told we can let her out, but due to the cold weather etc, we want to wait until its safer for her to go out, plus we don't have anyway of installing a cat flap.
But we're happy with it
Saving for a wedding etc means we can't afford to go out places all the time anyway, and when we do, we plan in advance, and therefore can take her to my mums
See where I'm coming from? Fair enough if she went out etc, but we chose to have a house cat
But I'd make sure she had somewhere to go if we wanted to go somewhere.
Just saying that not everyone plans like I do, and sometimes pets can be restricting. If we left our cat overnight with no food and a smelly litter box, we'd have no carpets left by the time we came back..!0 -
Sorry to digress from the topic, but Mrs Shaw2B - you should get timed feeders - we've got them & they've been a godsend - now we can go away for weekends & leave the two cats with enough food, then add a couple of spare water bowls & use a second litter tray - BINGO!0
