Gosh - honoured by a comment from PAP :)

That looks like a good idea, although I'm not sure how hygienic it would be to leave some types of foods sitting at ambient temperature?

£4 payments to the OP Pot and EF today - I am having a rock and roll day cleaning out the washing machine, roasting a duck and am just about to go for my last driving lesson of 2012 :)
  • Mr E , sounds like you have been having it rough recently!! and i thought i was getting stressed looking for my waitingrose card that seems to have gone walkabout.
Last driving lesson for 2012, hows the driving going???? xx

    :rotfl:

Oops didn't think about that. I was thinking more for stews or meals that are totally covered in a liquid of sorts. But then again the food would still be sitting at the desired temperature for microorganisms to reproduce. But surely thats what the slow cooker with inbuilt timer would have you do too? Ohh confusing!!

I must say I don't have a timer but have dumped everything in the S/C and covered tightly in cling film them removed the clingfilm in the morning before turning the S/C on. I haven't poisoned myself yet ;)

    Have a good lesson!
  • I tend to bung everything except meat into my SC in the evening then pop the meat in in the morning - i dont do clingfilm, i just put the lid on. I havent got food poisoning yet either...theres always time tho :D

Not bad actually - think I just about got reversing left round a corner today :) Still have the odd stall and a few things I don't understand about the rules of the road, but going in the right direction (so to speak).

And now to look forward to six glorious days of no lessons!

Tasty dinner today to celebrate Mrs E being back off on leave - braised duck with lardons, shallots, carrots, peas and leeks with roast potatoes. Doing my MFW bit by getting several meals out of the duck - tonight, wraps with hoisin sauce and veg tomorrow and duck stock from the carcasse :)

The duck was lovely, although cleaning up was not the most fun ever!

Mrs E cooked me a lovely breakfast (whoopsied chipolatas, a fried egg and sourdough bread) and I've been off to the Post Office to deliver some Amazon returns. For the first time in what feels like years, I didn't wait in a queue :j

I have contacted O2 to terminate my contract early as the spare phone Mrs E's Mum lent me is locked and it's not worthwhile paying to have it unlocked. They didn't try very hard to keep me, offering some truly dreadful deals. The final bill came to £40.40. Considering this is for 3 months, I should probably count myself lucky - iPhone owners have to tolerate this sort of spend once a month :rotfl:

Have switched to Tesco Mobile - I get the same phone (HTC Wildfire S, a new one), with 2.5x the minutes, 10x the texts and the same data for £7.50/mth (as opposed to the £13.84 I was paying O2). Ironically enough, Tesco use the O2 network, so I'm basically saving c. £140 over 2 years for paying the money to someone else. It's a funny old world...

As is the style in these parts, the extra £6.34/mth will go into the OP Pot

Replacement iPod is incredibly smart and shiny. It even has a built in pedometer, which should be really useful for exercise purposes and is a free 'nice to have' that I wasn't expecting.

Rest of the day to be frittered away peacefully enjoying my holiday.

We have the joy of phone contract sorting in about February. Mr T and Tilly kids are all on the same contract so I'm hoping purchasing power helps, but not sure whether that's true. Well done for sorting yours out, looks like a good saving.

    Best wishes Tilly x

I'm not sure if they're any good yet, but Tesco do offer 'family perks' if you have more than one contract with them - i.e. extra texts, data or calls for no additional cost. Mrs E will probably be joining up when her contract expires.
  • Just jumping in with a random opinion but myself and OH are both with tesco mobile and have been for a few years think they are great. Once when they accidentally called me a Mrs (were engaged to i wasnt really offended) the guy on the phone upgraded my package to match my OH's.
