A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Must remember that about shaming them online ...
It took 4 phone calls, 6-8 secure messages, 3 emails, 2 posts on their FB page and 2-3 exchanges with their 'social' team before it was resolved. I didn't even get an insincere apology - just a curt message with no line breaks, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and an operator with a pseudonym!
I'll be cancelling my boiler cover once the year is up (another SSE group company).
Glad it's done, !!!! poor customer service
It is lovely and sunny today. Perhaps inspired by books on how money can become a massive PITA, Mrs E and I have been discussing the sorts of homes we've never considered before (i.e. smallish new builds in modern estates). I honestly don't think that we'd miss our gigantic rooms, but are the perks of more rooms, reduced energy bills, less DIY and a garden worth the fact that these homes are typically further away from services, with a bigger commute? Please excuse me, that sentence was never ending
Suffice to say, there are various new build developments within 5-10 miles of our current flat where we could have a 3 bedroom house and a garden for another £10k or so. Previously we'd always been hung up on the 'better' neighbourhoods, but I'm starting to feel a wee bit like we're thinking like middle aged parents with teenagers, and not a young couple with one baby on the way...
Ran 9.35 miles, but my heart wasn't in it. Off to relax :coffee:0 -
Just to say - I feel your pain. SP are a nightmare, and having bought a house late last year with them listed as providers, I've spent over 12 hours on the phone with them and still don't have a DD set up. I made a formal complaint which was not acknowledged, except for a £98 bill in the post (we're not even living in the house yet), and a 'black mark' on my parent's account, even though I specified which account I was referring to.
Hate them!
I've now switched, even though I can't guarantee it'll be cheaper, but with no tie in, I refuse to pay them any more and can switch again when I'm clearer on the costs.
*takes deep breath*

There was an article in the Grauniad about SP yesterday, reporting similar problems to yours.
I have been very happy living in proper city working class areas and middle class ones. We live in what is referred to as a sought-after village now, and there are still undesirables around.0 -

Hi Edingurgher
I'm currently reading your diary (around page 16) but also keeping up with recent events too!
I was just wondering what you consider to be a sensible emergency fund with a baby on the way? Also is it just for you or Mrs E too?
I hope you don't think I'm being too nosy but we are thinking of a little one in the not too distant future. I'm finding it difficult splitting savings between our wedding/honeymoon pot, renovation pot and emergency savings as they seem to grow quite slowly
