Thank you so much to everyone for the Christmas wishes, it was a lovely day and I am feeling exceedingly chilled out.
We had a friend's birthday on the 23rd, a family gathering on the 24th, drove to my parents and Mrs E's parents on Christmas day and then drove through to Edinburgh for a 60th birthday yesterday! So exhausted, but happy and enjoying my first day with no parties.
I got some lovely clothing, craft beers and items for the fish tank. What with all the Christmas booze (and my current batch of homebrew pilsner), I do not think I'll need to buy any for *months*.
Now that the prezzies are tidied away, I've been focusing on vaguely financial matters.- Went to @sda for whoopsies - £2/kg mince, £1 quiche and 52p pork pies
- Went to L1dl for whoopsies - £1.39 smoked salmon *2, £1.39 trout fillets *3
- £4 to Freedom Fund
- £2 to Remortgage Pot
- £1 to Kitchen Pot
- Pots kept going over the last few days, spreadsheets and signatures updated
- Will help Mrs E apply for another N@tionwide account today, we've got enough spare to half fill one already
- Just about finalised New Year financial plans, trying to be optimistic, but realistic
Hey Ed
You will need a couple of weeks off to recover from all this partying! :rotfl:
Glad you had a great time.. Well done on the bargains you've picked up.. Hopefully that willsave you a bit on your January grocery shopping bill..
My landlord has loads of fish tanks at home so I am starting to comprehend the amount of work you have to put in to look after all those fishes.. I do enjoy it though.. Very entertaining.. In one the tank he can re-create the effect of a storm, with waves and lightening!!
Enjoy the rest before going back to work.. My regards to Mrs E..

Sounds like you've been busy
Whoopsies look good, as do the potsBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

read your thread from start to finish. Your pots (the saving ones, not the neighbours 'pot plants'
) have inspired me to take a fresh look at our savings for shorter term goals.

Chilled out day with Mrs E.
- Lie in
- Trip into town, complete with me tolerating the shops and a *fantastic* lunch at a burger place called Bread Meats Bread (best burger since we went to 5 Napkin Burger in Hell's Kitchen!)
- Returned an unwanted sweater from an unloved shop, leaving me with a £25 voucher to eBay :money:
- Home to check on the homebrew. I had hoped to bottle today, but it's nowhere near ready. I (finally) had the brainwave that I can use a new/sealed aquarium heater to raise the temperature. This will help the beer ferment faster
- £4.21 to Freedom Fund
- £2 to Remortgage Pot
- £1 to Kitchen Pot
2014 financial goals will be:- £1200 of OPs (less than 2013, but we've reduced the term significantly)
- £1500+ in the Freedom Fund
- £1000 in a Home Improvement Pot (I'd like to insulate the loft, redecorate our spare room and paint a few walls)
- £2000 in a kitchen pot (replace oven and hob, replace door fronts, possibly worktops, repaint). £7000 was completely unrealistic, that's all our spare money for the year...

I've got it set at 18 degrees Celsius, it's hardly a raging firestorm0
