you're doing so well Ed!
Thanks tootoo - starting to feel a bit more relaxed and :xmastree:
Got a call from our new lender's surveyor yesterday, they're wanting to come out and see the place on Friday. I've asked to WFH in the morning (hooray for VPN), the afternoon will be a write-off anyway as I have team Christmas lunch, then a night in Edinburgh with Mrs E
£3.24 to Freedom Fund, one survey completed, up far too early today!
Aiming for a NSD, with leftover chicken and ham pie for dinner.
Have a good one all :T0 -
So many frustrating phone calls today:
- NPower, because they can't organise a **** up in a brewery
- Scottish Hydro, because apparently it's normal to send people a letter charging them for a callout they didn't request and threatening their credit rating
- QVC, because apparently it's reasonable to send you other peoples' orders and then expect you to take onus for waiting in Christmas Post Office queues to return them (with no offer of compensation for your time returning their tat)
On the plus side, I made Mrs E a chocolate, coffee and whisky-soaked raisin cake
£2 to Remortgage Pot
£1 to Kitchen Pot
4 days left of work!0 -
Mmm  any chance of a slice of cake? Or the recipe?

The basic technique was lifted from here, but I used roughly 2/3 of the quantities, strong filter coffee (instead of espresso), whisky (instead of marsala) and extra chocolate (as opposed to cocoa). The timings, heat etc. were spot on. I also added lemon zest.
Considering it's my first real chocolate cake, exceptionally pleased with the results.0 -
Sounds delicious

OMW - what a boring day - think I felt ill from sitting on my behind too much :rotfl:
- £3.75 to Freedom Fund (I have beaten my target for the 3rd consecutive month)
- £2 to Remortgage Pot
- £1 to Kitchen Pot
- I no longer have any money in Zopa!
- Sold an old Wii game for £28 or so on eBay, should be c. £19 after fees and exorbitant postage
- Took a packed lunch
- Completed a YG survey
Other than that, a bad, spendy day (with a Chinese takeaway and a few low cost items from Amazon)
Off to Edinburgh tomorrow, lots of mortgage paperwork to chase in the morning.
*Edit: updated 2014 budget (inspired by Slowly Fading) and we look to be in the region of £115/mth better off than 2013 as there will be less surprises

We are currently getting the flat surveyed, which is interesting. Now if only I could get in touch with our broker so easily!
This will be a fairly quiet day for me. I've been working this morning and have got a few things accomplished, but the rest of my team being out of the office is slowing things down.
Mrs E and I are off to enjoy the Edinburgh Christmas markets tonight, looking forward to a bite to eat, some lights and a hotel stay

Off to check current accounts for TTs...0 -

Are you looking to sell? Or is this for the remortgage? Or just want to find out?
I think about doing it (just for info) as we have done a lot of renovation, but we're not completely finished yet so wouldn't want to be disappointed with the valuation.

Christmas market sounds wonderful! Is it a German one - if so, bratwurst and beer for all :beer:M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0 -
Since I've missed out on everything while I was studying, I'm coming back to catch up:edinburgher wrote: »Thanks Tilly, I also made a 'fish' pie with chicken, ham, carrots, onions, celery, peas, a mornay sauce and mashed potatoes on top

I didn't understand this
I assume it wasn't fish? Confusing

You swap to NPower too? I've had one email asking for a reading, and then nothing. No idea what's going on!
I keep getting someone else's post too, the postie keeps delivering letter that have my address and the other address, so he must know that it's not right!edinburgher wrote: »- I no longer have any money in Zopa!
What happened to Zopa?
That's the end of me being nosey... well almost! :rotfl:
Can I ask how you picked what you wanted to do for Honours? I'm stuck
And, as to your comments on my thread, you're not that old! I'm only 7 years younger than you, and my OH is 2 years younger than you.
I'm a grown-up, honest! :j0
