Feeling a bit wan today - was out for a meal celebrating Mrs E's birthday with friends and all I could think about was feeling skint
We've beaten our OP target for the year, we're on track to get 80% LTV (or less) when we remortgage next year, we're paying into pensions and saving up for short and medium term goals and we're (just about) sticking to a budget, with money set aside for all our recurring expenses.
So why does it feel like pushing water up a hill sometimes?
It's probably just the changing seasons making me feel down in the dumps, or maybe reading The Millionaire Next Door! I recognise a fair few UAW characteristics lurking...
On a more positive note, the kitchen smells lovely and 'piggy'I'm rendering the pork left over from our pulled pork, which has just started an hour in the PC (didn't have time to slow cook it in the end).
- £1 to Freedom Fund
- £1.5 to Remortgage Pot
- £10 to Kitchen Pot (now over £100 :T Trying not to count the £3,000 we've got stoozed at 0% in this total, but we probably will go down this route)
- Switched to a new utility provider, no price rises until April 2015 or thereabouts. £30 cashback, free night in a hotel and it's predicted we'll save some awesome amount like 15p a year :rotfl:

I feel a bit blah today as well, can't put my finger on why. We're on track (I think) as well, but it does very much feel like we're just about plodding along.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hi Mr E, I really think the weather makes a difference - it's a strange old journey we've all chosen and I know I'd like to click my fingers and be done with it all and MF.
To lift our spirits we can think about the interest the banks are losing. I love it when we get to see the total OPs on the challenges :T
Enjoy the pork

Not yet SD - Homeb@se wanted £7.50 for a caulking gun - which seemed ludicrous? I got a slightly flimsier one (that still looks like it will survive the exercise) from Poundland :money:
I don't mind paying for decent silicone etc., but didn't want to spend more than I had to on a frame with a basic trigger attached.0 -
Mrs E and I went out for a lovely Vietnamese meal last night. Ended up being reasonably spendy, but £60 doesn't seem bad for cocktails before, a table full of delicious, fragrant food and a trip to a coffee shop afterwards
Managed to avoid getting a taxi back, which is good, as it would have added £15+ to the cost of the evening.
Mrs E had a lovely birthday and we're off today - pyjamas and Star Wars DVDs is the current plan!- £2 to Freedom Fund
- £1.50 to Remortgage Pot
- £2.92 to Kitchen Pot
Starting to have some second thoughts about our plan to install a new kitchen. Thinking that £10k might be more realistic. As a new kitchen adds (on average) less than half that sum to a 3 bedroom house, it may not be the best idea for our flat? We're thinking new door fronts, worktops, cooker and a redecorate might be more sensible and breathe life into the room? We may still be able to use our 'study' as a booth, as Mrs E's Dad is getting more and more into woodworking and could knock together a couple of benches with a decent finish.
At this point in our lives, £10k plus our savings and existing equity would be the deposit on a house, I don't think it would be well spent. Now £2-4k? That could give us a 'nearly new' kitchen and would probably pay for itself in improved selling potential...0 -

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
