Thank you all for your words and well wishes, I do appreciate it so much, it does make it that little bit easier, knowing that there's someone to talk to.
And freddiesmum, you are so right, I was always nervous about posting here, I've not been a great contributor (not for lack of trying to find glitches!) and even though I'm not a "well known" name the support I have received has been really great and to all of you I really appreciate it :)

Awww, its so nice to hear people feel so supported by this thread, I know i do when I have had a bad day and I am only new. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming here even to the newbies and people that don't post so often.. I was umming and arring about posting for the 1st time incase the group was too tight knit and didn't need any more members (is this making any sense haha)
Still am nervous in posting incase suddenly I get banned for being the biggest moaner/worst glitch finder on here.. :rotfl:still not banned though ;)
Its nice being able to offload onto people with no involvment in the situation sometimes, hense why i think this is such a great place. :)

The crazy thing is it's not even a glitch, the staff seem fine with it!

I don't know if it's in train stations but definitely worth a look, in my store there were a4 size notices above the cards instore if that helps, there was nothing in the window about it at all.

    Good luck!:j
In the main store down here there were no signs at all at the greeting card displays - so i thought that perhaps it wasn't on at our store but I picked up a card anyway and when I went to the till there was a small handwritten sign above the giftcards saying £15 giftcard for £10 when you buy any greetings card - so not exactly advertising it are they!!!
  • Evening all, been to ts today and was followed by guard everywhere then noticed that I picked something up put it back and the guard did the same then turned around and 2 staff were standing there I asked why I'm being followed and they said they don't need to tell me, I was made to feel like I was a shop lifter or something. Has this happened to anybody else? If so what do I do? Iv never had this happen before

Similiar story to me when my dad died. He'd died because of asbestosis but I had to fight to get the post mortem.Even when he passed at the hospital they wouldnt have it at the hospital that a post mortem was needed. I was lucky and had been told exactly what I needed to do when the time came and just wouldnt let go until they agreed. I needed the post mortem to be done to confirm the proper cause and to confirm that my dad was otherwise fit and healthy as I was fighting for compensation for my mum. My dad was 57 and even at the coroners court thingie (Not sure what it was but I had to go) someone said that my dad had a heart attack at 49 so was not in the best of health, but the post mortem proved their was nothing wrong with his heart. It was hard but my mum got a big payout and a good pension which was exactly what my dad wanted for her. But it was heartbreaking to go through it when all you want is some sort of closure:(

I got the feeling that sometimes they just want to put a quick label on someone's death and have done with it.
On the proof of death cert from them they put DH down as unemployed, when I rang up to complain the lady I spoke to couldn't be more appologetic, she stated that the info had been given to them by the cops but the cops said that no info regarding employment had been requested or supplied by them. We later found out that the attendant at the morgue had filled this in himself .
They wanted to put his cause of death down as heart attack but I made the statement to them that at some stage of dying the heart will do this anyway so needed the real cause. DH had 5 clots in his heart and 13 in his lungs.
I had loads of mistakes made about DHs death from employment status through to date of death and from various govt depts and while it was frustrating at time I knew not to take it out on the poor soul who I had to deal with.
The most memorable moment was when I got an ESA payment through 4 months after DH died for SSP he was due in 2009  I took the letter and cheque to my local benefits office and the young guy I had to deal with got upset as I got more and more upset, the two of us sat with tears running down our faces. He got so angry with ESA when he was on the phone because they did have the letters I'd taken in to prove DH had died but no one had closed the case fully only put down that the claim had ended.

Sorry for going on but it does help to ramble about this stuff and just feeling a bit low at the moment :(

does the smiths glitch work in train stations, as i work all day its the only place i may make it in time.

Zippy if you put your postcode in here it tells you all the WH Smiths stores and when you click on the one you are going to it tells you if they accept giftcards, which is what you need it to do;)Thanks to FK for giving the info:)
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

add some other cheap cheese eg Value Mozzarella 44p (Asda 44p)
    use Ts £1 voucher

I would never be brave enough to do the WHSmith gift card offer. When the old style DTD was around, I only did it twice and was petrified. I use the money off coupons and try to look brave but inside I am quivering. I am such a wimp!

This is the post I made with some rough calculations. Obviously if you get a card at less than £2.50 you will have a smaller outlay (though not by much) but each transaction will cost you less as well.

Can you 'top up' gift cards or is it a case of having a deck of cards you have to sort through? If you can top up then great, otherwise all I can picture is (assuming a greetings card costs £2.50 each time for argument sake so each transaction will cost £12.50 and net you a £15 gift card as per OP):

    Trans 1: card & GiftCard1 (Balance £15) - outlay £12.50
    Trans 2: card & GC2 - use GC1 (-£12.50, new balance £2.50)
    Trans 3: card & GC3 - use GC1 (-£2.50, new balance £0) and GC2 (-£10, new balance £5)
    Trans 4: card & GC4 - use GC2 (-£5, new balance £0) and GC3 (-£7.50, new balance £7.50)
    Trans 5: card & GC5 - use GC3 (-£7.50, new balance £0) and GC4 (-£5, new balance £10)
    Trans 6: card & GC6 - use GC4 (-£10, new balance £0) and GC5 (-£2.50, new balance £12.50)
    Trans 7: card & GC7 - use GC5 (-£12.50, new balance £0), GC6 and GC7 both have £15

So for every 7 transactions you end up with 7 greeting cards (assuming they cost £2.50) and 2 £15 gift cards and all for an outlay of £12.50! Have I worked it out right?

I'm debating trying this as my store is almost 20 miles away and a good few quid on day time parking. If I go in the evening I only have until 7pm. Tempting, especially as cards cost so much to begin with and there's only so many Hallmark free card offers you can get to stockpile!
  • anyone know if mr t's will refund an item without a recipt? i lost one of my recipts that i was planning on getting Jtd on. I used my sms coupons on the lenor... what should i do????
