Will catch up with everyone later as just got in.

Just wanted to share a DTD we got at lunch time whilst buying the Easter Eggs

Yellow SEL 74p - went through till at £2.79
Didn't notice till I got back to work & had to ring Mr T as I didn't want SEL removed by next customer buying it & noticing the overcharge.

    Quick note about large images

When very large pictures are posted it distorts the forum layout and makes it so difficult to read, so if you could resize your pictures much smaller before posting them it would be a great help. It would also really help if people didn't quote the picture part of the posts when they are replying otherwise it just takes the width problem on to page after page as the large image keeps getting reposted again and again.

The forum team are aware of the issues of large pictures on the forum but it's not something that is easy to solve in this version of the forum software (so I'm told). However I do believe they are working on it so hopefully it will be resolved at some point. In the meantime if you could keep your pictures smaller it would be a great help to everybody. Thanks :)

Sorry that was me I think I'll try to make them smaller before I post anymore...

it wasn't directed at anybody in particular, Smart1e. It was just a reminder to everyone and also to request that people don't include the pictures when they press quote to reply to a post.

I made the same mistake a couple of days ago but our resident "tech" expert, HC, told me how to make them smaller!:j:j

great glitch , so you end up with lots WHS gift cards each with £3.25 on , is that correct .(probably not) :)

we've only a small WHS here and we all know 1 another ...sometimes it's like a one horse town , without the horse .

No, not quite! because you use the first giftcard to buy the next transaction - which say for argument is £11.75 (1.75 card and 10.00 giftcard) leaving you a balance on the 1st giftcard of £3.25)then do it again and pay using the balance on the first giftcard of £3.25 and then an amount of £8.50 from the 2nd giftcard leaving £6.50 on the 2nd card and so on and so on!

It does work and I think Caz? gave a great explanation of it on the other thread which convinced me to have a go! And I'm glad i did because i went out later on and tried it at our small branch in town and now I'm happy to report that I'm now up to 13 cards in total and approx £55 on giftcards!!!!

Soooo want to go out again tomorrow and do some more!!!!

Lacking motivation today to go out clothes hunting and WHSmith gift card getting! :(

My Grandad's post mortem results were returned today and no cause of death could be found, so the coroner has ordered an inquest to be held. My mum and aunt and uncle have a meeting at the coroner's office tomorrow at 9am. At the moment only a temporary death certificate has been issued which means no funeral can be arranged - at the moment it's pencilled in for Friday but that's only going to happen if the certificate is issued tomorrow.

All this waiting is just making me feel so on edge, I can't relax.
I'm not sleeping well, and today I woke up at 3am after dreaming the hospital had made a mistake and my grandad was still alive and I went to see him and he was happy and so much better and hiding his sweets and chocolates from the nurses so he could eat them sneakily, waking up was horrible when I realised it was a dream :(

I just can't handle the not knowing of what's happening..... and I just want him back soooo much :A
Sorry for rambling and lowering the mood :o

So sorry for your loss. I know only too well what you're going through but for slightly different reasons.
When my DH died last April the coroner wasn't going to do a post mortem but I begged him to because although DH was overweight he'd had nothing seriously wrong with him that would have caused him to die suddenly. I needed to know that there wasn't some underlying condition that neither he nor I knew about because I needed to be sure that our DS wouldn't be affected by anything medically wrong.
They didn't want to do it because a high profile policeman murder had occured earlier the same day and with only 1 coroner in NI he was busy with this. I insisted and got onto DHs GP, my own GP, the policemen who were at our house and the recorder person who'd phoned me to tell me there would be no P.M. They finally done what I'd asked but it took a week before we could bury him and even then they gave a 'notice for permission for burial' only, death cert. came 3 months later.
I hope everything goes ok tomorrow for your mum and family and hope that you'll get the permission to go ahead with the funeral xxx

    Lol!!

You have to buy 1 greetings card, they start from 65p but the cheapest I found was £1.89. When you pay you can also buy a £15 giftcard but pay £10 for it. So my initial outlay was £11.89.

Then you use the £15 gift card to pay for the 2nd lot and so on so basically it's however many times you want to do it.They had no problem me doing it all all, either it didn't register with them or it's just no problem anyway. Each time you are "up" by the difference between the cost of the greeting card and the £5 free giftcard credit.

You can either hang onto all the giftcards with the "change" on them or each time I did it 4 times I used the cards with change on them to pay and kept the new £15 card aside. I ended up with 6 x £15 cards and one with change and 26 cards!:T
The original thread is here..I have thanked the OP profusely!!

After my "trouting" by the manageress, she couldn't find anything in HO's instructions about the offer to say that you can't do multiple transactions in one day and use giftcards to buy more giftcards - it even says on the back of the giftcards that they can be used in full or part payment to buy any goods at WHS but NOT competitor giftcards!!

Someone at HO didn't think this through properly!!!!!

I've just worked out that I was probably in WHSmith for an hour or so today - came home with £93 worth of giftcards and 26 greeting cards?:eek::eek: I got more today value-wise than I did in the Boots vitamin glitch and that was over 4 stores!

That's a good rate of pay!! I'm going back tomorrow!

what was your total outlay for what you got back thanks:)
  • If I wasnt so thick and bad at maths I would give the whsmith deal a go....I have sat here for ages with a pen and paper (and my brain lol) trying to figure it out... and I just can't- even with the detailed explanation given on the actual thread...how embarassing lol:rotfl: well done to the lady who found it tho and all those taking advantage :T
